Protestors gathered outside Hong Kong’s Government Headquarters over the weekend of 27-28 September 2014. The protests could be spreading to other parts of the city. There are disruptions to traffic and public transport services, and closures of some schools and businesses. Singaporeans should avoid the crowd and demonstrations.

Singaporeans travelling to or residing in Hong Kong should monitor the local news and developments closely and heed the instructions of local authorities. They should take all necessary precautions for personal safety, including purchasing comprehensive travel and medical insurance.

In addition, Singaporeans travelling to or residing in Hong Kong are encouraged to eRegister with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg to facilitate contact should the need arise. quite confused le. HK already has this for all visitors who visit there more than 3x a year, but just have to register at HK customs (at airport I'm sure, saw my friend get it). The only difference I see is that now we can go Changi airport to get that.

Anyway, what my friend did was during one of her trips to HK, she went to Shenzhen. That was considered one entry also.

Automated passport clearance for S'poreans visiting HK frequently

FROM next Monday, Singaporeans who travel frequently to Hong Kong can apply for a facility to avoid long immigration queues at the city's airport.

The two cities have agreed to allow mutual automated clearance of passports, said the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) yesterday. Machines at the airports read passports and fingerprints and travellers need not fill in embarkation or disembarkation cards.

Not sure abt now, but last time needed to fill in those cards which was really ley chey...I used to make day trips up and down HK and Shenzhen or HK and Guangzhou daily to weekly, so this fingerprint clearance will benefit biz travellers like me then.

There are some shops that specialise in toys like gundam, and other toys (can’t recall offhand, but def no Barbie and the likes). These shops stock lego but I find it fairly pricey compared with In’s Point. I used to visit this place for Bakugans and that spinning top thingy (haiz…so popular then, now…)

Here goes.


if anyone is interested in Lego, visit In’s Point at Yau Ma Tei (facing the street, fairly near to mrt station and Cityview hotel). There are many micro shops selling legos - minifigs only or sets. For minifigs, these are pasted on boards and you can see what you want. Note that prices can differ A LOT between shops so do some comparison. BUT, if you walk away and someone else grab, it’s too bad too sad.

For box sets, the prices can be about 40% cheaper than SG (or even HK Toys R Us prices). Do compare between the shops also cos price may differ. Offerings may differ also. But the shop owners are very knowledgeable and will likely know what you are referring to if you drop some clues.

And now, for my deep dark secret…Kenson’s on 2nd floor offers the best prices for box sets. He’s a very young chap and very nice guy. But can be overwhelmed with demand so have a bit of patience.

Cash only transactions (there is a citibank nearby to withdraw if need). Shops are dispersed on 2nd and 3rd level so do walk around and enjoy. These shops usually only open for a very short time - typically after 5pm to about 9pm (a bit longer during weekends but not much).

Went to the original branch at Sham Shui Po…food was much nicer. Went there before they started, only 2 SG families (can hear accent) ahead of me.

I think there is a Koi Kei in Chinatown. Have you tried the pastries at Chinatown? Do they taste the same as what you would have gotten in Macau?

It's the same stuff, imported into Singapore (hence, I would think that it taste the same).
There are less variety and things to choose from (not surprisingly) in Singapore.
