Do we have to go to pri school on 22 Dec to get the posting? I know we suppose to be in Sec school posted on 23 Dec for reporting but is it whole day affair that I need to apply 2 day leave again…

Last year, for my dd's case.
Once we have reached the school, we would proceed to a big board to check her class allocation. All the year 1 students list and class are on that board, sorted by gender, then alphabetical order of names. Then proceed to the classroom, all the students in there would be her future classmates. There was a teacher in each classroom, to collect the report books, check the names, answer any queries if there are any, one at a time. (the teacher was not the form teacher). After that, proceed to the computer lab for student registration, dd has to key in hers and our particulars. After that we could proceed to the hall to buy books and uniforms and register for school bus (if you want). We did not as we were still waiting for the appeal result. That's all about it ... πŸ˜„

They have to stay overnight (1 night) in the school. The first week of school is bascially bonding, fun and playing time. The 2nd week is for CCA selection, interview, auditions .... Then they have to fill up a form of 6 choices of the CCA they want.


This year, my dd is joining the leader support group, involving with the year 1 orientation issues and camping programes. Its not an easy task and all these are planned, organised and carried out purely by the students themselves. The last three weeks of December are the busiest time for them and even need to work on X'mas eve and New Year eve. Its an incredible experience for her so far and she really look forward for the big days to come, 23rd Dec and 1st week of school. πŸ˜„

But rules are rules, my girl doesn’t want to be the odd one out too.


For my girl’s sec sch, classes have already been allocated. We went there, check e boards, saw our girl’s name & class. The girls get to c their classrooms too. There were top 2 classes (1-A* science, 1-A* math), the average (mix) classes and 2 classes (MEP- Music elective prog). But then again, all sch operate differently so it all depends.

Hmmm, so can check this out on the orientation day huh. Btw, are the pupils already allocated to their sec1 classes on the orientation day? If so, they can meet their sec1 classmates.

My DD pri sch has informed all pupils to wear full sch uniform on orientation day. However, it makes sense to just wear t-shirt - easier for trying on the new uniform.

It depends on schools.

Some schools mixed up everyone.

But some will have 1 to 2 best classes. However, it really depends on schools' needs.

There are those who will allocated them based on their Higher Mother Tongue/ Mother Tongue so that planning of timetable is not a nightmare.

Depend on which school. In RV, top 3 classes are according to PSLE results. The rest of the classes, are being mixed up.

U may get the booklist from the posted sch first. Appeal, wait, result then get the books. U might hv to wait till sch starts and get the books on the 1st/2nd wk. Usually, the students will be having their orientation/camp on the 1st wk.

Does this mean ... there is no school for Sec1 on 4th Jan//5th Jan. Then can go holiday lah!

So I usually bring more cash for the Sec 1 orientation and buy everything there.
Exactly! I prefer that too. One day settles all. Don't need to make another trip. I was at Popular yesterday, the crowd and queue were terrible.
