Can anyone share your review on MINDS?
I visited their school recently and was quite impressed with their environment. Was surprised that they teaches quite a fair bit of academic in their Junior programme, very different from what I have heard.

I’m considering to enrol my son to the school as his application to GO seems to be having an issue.

Curriculum Framework
Eden Curriculum

A team of dedicated teachers and ARC(S) autism consultants is developing the Eden curriculum. Upon completion, it will be the first of its type in Singapore.

Our curriculum addresses the unique impairments caused by autism.

The primary goal of our Eden curriculum is to provide an educational experience that will empower our students with autism to live productive and fulfilling lives with the greatest degree of independence that they are capable of achieving.

Unique Features of the Curriculum
Our Eden curriculum aims to prepare our students with autism for their adult lives i.e.
To be able to care for their own personal needs
To participate in routine social interactions in the community
To be able to transition between different activities and locations
To undertake meaningful vocational jobs consistent with their skills & abilities
To appropriately occupy their leisure time

Consistent with the needs of each student, access to the Eden Curriculum is determined by the Individual Education Process (IEP).

An Individualised Education Plan may target the development of skills in the following areas:

My son was from Eden EIPIC Centre at Clementi and as I can see, quite a number proceeded to going into Eden School.

I don’t have any experience but based from one of the mothers I spoke to (went into the web site and saw her son’s face is on their website), they are grouped according to few groups with similar abilities and the whole group moves up together. She says the teachers are good but she said that as she felt her son has progressed more than his peers but because he is in a group, they have to wait before the whole group is ‘promoted’.

They learn simple things in terms of academics, more of life skills too. So, my friend teaches him at home too. He is alrd in his teens btw.

Hope my little info can give u a tiny idea.

Wonder how many students are there in special education school. Based on the website of Grace orchard, it can accommodate 400 student while Eden school has an intake of 276 student in January 2014.

What are MOE objectives on pri 1 students?

1) Adapt school
2) Behave well
3) Shine in reading n writing

I did not know about Primary School. But I attended an Special School's open house last week, seems like the school is teaching more to the kids (science). Its good in a sense, but I don't know if my son can handle and if not what other special school can he goes to except for MINDS.

Cos from the reviews about MINDS, they teaches mostly of living skills like how to take care of themselves.

Sighz.....lost...why is there so limited information about special school and limited special school in singapore.

Yes, they were able to identify a category of school but as parent we would like to know more about the school in order to make a decision.

Besides, they may not necessary make the best decision for us as they only meet our child for 2 hours (the most) and if the child is not in his/her best mood, the educational psychologist not see the potential of the child at all.

I dont know much about these schools, so cant provide any useful information for you.

Would the educational psychologist who administered the IQ test have given some recommendations on a suitable school based on your child’s IQ performance, although a score could not be given?

My son was diagnosed with Global development delays, not much speech and IQ test was not able to give him any score.
