I think teaching kids with dialects is helpful for them to remain connected to their roots and so they can communicate well with their relatives or friends who speak their dialects. Did you know that in some countries, dialects are being taught in school? This is so they can understand well the subject.

In our home, we teach our kids both our dialect and English.

I don’t know of any younger generation parents who speak dialect to their toddlers today.

Make me wonder whether those parents who complain to ICA, are they just simply worried that P1 registration under phase 2B will be removed for them? Flip flopping on a simply policy within such a short time frame doesn’t instill confidence in the rigour of policy-making. Is ICA clear about the ramifications and objectives before they decided on the policy to omit dialect group?
