First week is usually on orientation and adaptation.

Most importantly, your whole family must rest well and drink more water.

opinion, not so much of a biggie if he misses his first day of
school, in fact by the time he is fine to attend, all da hoohaa
of 1st day jitters wud have died down already making it more
settling for your boy to start his first day of school. 😉

No issue missing a week of school especially he is P1. There are still many who are appealing. Just concentrate in getting well.

Dd’s partner missed the 1st week of school last year too and he coped fine. Not to worry.

It is not a problem to miss school on the first day.
Some even missed for a week or two if they have not returned from overseas yet due to personal reasons.

As long as you contact the school and let them know the reason, it is fine.
Just to give you an idea what is likely done on Day 1-Day 3:

1. Teacher will collect the books they can store in school
2. Child will collect forms to be filled by parents for health stuff, subscription fees of magazines etc…
3. Teacher will collect the health booklet
4. Teacher will arrange seating arrangement and groups allocation
5. Teacher will allocate all the exercise books required to be used for the term, eg. spelling and dictation book.
6. Teacher will issue the timetable
7. Teacher will allocate buddy for recess
8. The various subject teachers will be introduced…
9. The teacher will spend most of their time getting the children accustom to the rules in the classroom.

If you communicate with the form teacher, most of these information can get to you, even via email.

Hope the bug leaves your family soon. I would suggest giving the school a call first thing tomorrow to let them know that your son won’t be in school tomorrow. Better let him stay at home till he has recovered. He will probably be sent home even if you insist on sending him there tomorrow. Schools are quite sticky nowadays, especially after SARS and the recent H1N1.
