<![CDATA[Hainanese Chicken Rice]]>Not sure if any of you have this strange feeling. When we go overseas for a period of time, when we come back, local food will come to mind.


Recently, when we came back from the holidays...first thing came to my dh's mind for the first meal in SG was chicken rice.

Then I suggested Pow Sing at Serangoon Gardens and off we went.

No regrets, had a satisfying meal with half a white chicken plus the fried fritter with mayo, sambal squid(super spicy, burnt my tongue yet so shiok!!), claypot mushrooms, fish maw/fishball soup and rounded off with mango pudding and chendol.

Wah..it was like Godsend after living on non-local food for a prolonged period.

So where do you typically go for your CHICKEN RICE?

Sorry Ooptimizer, I think I read that in wanbao few years back. I tried to google but to no avail. If I rem. correctly, the article was to highlight cooked food in food stalls are subject to increased bacteria growth when left in open for a long time. It's the same for roast pork, duck etc etc. But they are still safe for consumption. So you don't have to worry lah 😄

Tian Tian usually no queue in the evening dinner hours.

The latest I went was 3pm plus. Personally, I try to avoid eating chicken rice at night because i came across an article that mentioned the chicken has been hung there for one whole day and contains the most bacteria. 😄

Hahaha there is a reason why it is more flavourful mah... anyway once awhile good to try both. I actually have both BTK and 5* just 5 min walk from my home... but so far hardly go there cos usually drive out either to Bt Merah Central or Henderson Hawker ... for the more conventional hawker fare.

I tried their white and black chicken rice for the first time yesterday, overall I find their chicken rice flavourful. Must try there is their fried tofu dish ($3), they prepare and fry the tofu only when you order, so it is hot and tasty :celebrate:
