Nice to hv a gifted high-end oven. Look out for the repairs costs though. Like slmkhoo pointed out - to regularly heat up oven. Take good care of it & u’ll hv less worry. Mr ovens typically lasts beyond 10 years w/o need for repairs, except those years I was away for some years down-under & tenants blew it. They hv to pay for a new one as it was beyond repairs after agent sought for technician to rectify.

For baking, I was told by a celebrity baker there’s no diff. It’s the skill & u’stand’g of baking principles & experience. That was when I decided Mayer is good enuf. Extra savings can use for other purposes. I’m exercising my mindful shopping as best as I cld.

I m using miele. I don't even know(don't bother to learn) to set timer. So always use my phone alarm. Dont know about the taste diff..but should depend more on the person baking skills ba.

Well, to close the loop, in the end I've decided to get the Tecno TBO63, which is exactly what I have now. There are no display models for the cheaper model (which I discovered is an Uno, also under Tecno), so I've decided to stick with the tried and true. And I got an additional 5% off for the 10.10 sale which is still on! With the $50 for installation, it's cheaper than what I paid 10 years ago!

We were evaluating replacement oven towards end of Covid CB & went thro considerations of features, functionality as well as repairs costs & ease for parts.

We’ve used Gaggenau oven, Italian Turbo, Elba, etc. We finally settled on Mayer, as we bake, grill a lot. After Covid, most foreign brands hv no parts replacements despite not being cheap even to get technician’s assessments, so we go with one with strong local after-sales & repair support.

The one I'm eyeing, Tecno UPO63, is on sale at $429 at Hoe Kee! The one with rotisserie, Tecno TBO63, is $580. Even cheaper than what I paid 10 yrs ago ($619). Since I've been happy with Tecno, I'm inclined to get one of these. Will decide this afternoon.

Reviving this thread: I'm going to have to replace my built-in oven soon, so looking for recommendations. My Tecno fan-assisted oven has served me well for 10 years now, but the fan has started to get noisy and sometimes makes quite loud noises! I reckon KSP is a good place to ask for suggestions!

Over the past 10 years, I expect technology has advanced, and new features have appeared. I'm a very basic baker - simple cakes, muffins, granola, etc. I rarely roast meats or cook meals in the oven. Any must-haves? Or really useful features that you would recommend? I would prefer to keep to low-cost, low-maintenence models!

Following on - there's a good sale on now for the same model, and another model (also Tecno) without rotisserie. Since I haven't used the rotisserie even once in 10 yrs, I'm inclined to get the cheaper model. Will go and have a closer look this afternoon. My husband suggests that I replace it now, when there's a sale on, than wait till it actually conks out. This will also ensure an uninterrupted supply of cake and granola!
