Which is best? Daily disposables, biweekly or monthly?


Doing it for my daughter after her PSLE next year. Wanted to start her this holiday but hubby said better not in case of infection. Don't want to jeopardise her PSLE revision for the next few months.

My cousin wanted to start her Sec2 son on contacts too but was told can't cos he cannot open his eye wide enough 😞
Daily disposables are probably the cheapest and safest way to start wearing contact lenses. Because they do not need to be cleaned, and everyday is a fresh pair, and that I know of, all disposables are soft lenses. However, friends on the hard lenses seems to have more stabilized degree and astigmatism. Maintenance is also much easier with hard lenses compared to the soft lenses.

the reason was that she had severe lazy eye with degree of 1300. at that time the lens was super thick and for a kid the spec will surely drop. so the eye doc recommend that contact be use with the spec. means she wearing contact for 600~700 degree and spec for the balance.

numerous time contact drop and need to redo.

The condition must be pretty severe for such extreme measures. How's your sis now? Did her condition improve? Would lasik be able to help eventually when she grows older?

DD's been asking for it. Told her she'll get them when vision stabilizes.
Actually it should be the other way around.

The vision will stabilise with the use of contact lenses. Glasses are not able to correct the vision as accurately as contact lenses. If your DD is able to handle contacts, switch to that for her.

Unless you can put them on and remove them for child ( I couldn’t do it well!), it’s best that you start them on it, only if they can handle putting lens on and removing them, themselves comfortably.


Cleanliness is paramount when handling the lens. So as a start may want to use disposables. If permanent ones, until child can clean them well, parent may have to do so for them to ensure no infection etc.
