Almost the 1st month going to over where almost now adjusted the P1 timetable. Yes now set alarm to go home from work on the dot. Reach home 6.30pm have my quick shower & dineer then awating kid to reach home.

Check the timetable, schoolwork or any memo from the school. See what is important to be complete for the day. For those colouring stuff would ask my DS to do on the next day when in the morning.

Now machiam like Robot style liao. Ha.ha if company going to retrench me I would be the one in the hit list. Ha.ha.. :!:

Even though I'm a SAHM, my ds in p1 am session and he doesn't take pm naps. I still felt tt time is tight for my family too.

The main problem is there are things to be done but yet i can't push him too much or rush him thru.

2.10pm Ds reach home
2.10-3pm To bathe and have lunch
3.00-3.30 Free time
3.30-5.00 Do sch HW, spelling, tingxie, go thru today's work, do enrichment class hw
(by now i know he's tired for any more sch work)
5.00-6.30 Free play time for him at home or playgrd or Tv time while i prepare dinner (dad's back from work)
6.30-7.30 Dinner + wash up
7.30-8.30 Practice piano
8.30-9pm Getting ready for bed, reading, chit chat etc...
9.30 Must fall asleep to ensure enough of rest to wake up at 6.10am

This is the schedule that i tried to adhere for the past three weeks. I know my ds doesn't like to be nag to be faster (but who likes? :oops: ), he likes to do things at his own pace That's why he only need to adhere to two timings strictly 1. the bathe and have lunch by 3pm and bedtime at 9pm.

All the other timings like Sch hw and piano practice, I have to lead him subtly to do it.

To add on, as he has enrichment on two weekdays, the enrichment class will 'eat up' his free play time in the afternoon. :oops:

To compensate, wkends are r&r for him and myself too! :lol:

Hope that your company is understanding. Yah.... I suppose with school going kids, all parents need a job that has good work life balance.

Normally when the kid are in PM session, they would reach home around 7pm to 7.30 pm depend on the distance. Assuming take dinner, shower then start doing homework would be around 8.30pm. .....

Normally the kid can be stretch until what time then they really too tired to continue? We are both working parents, presuming we go home on the dot (Even the boss angry also no chocie) we the most only have the evening to supervise the homework from school. The next morning is totally out for us as we have to go work again. :!:

No longer lucky Now very hectic because of morning session. It's almost 3 weeks now since school start, we're still not able to stabilize the situation (still feel like rushing every night)...sigh

Yes. He woke up late because he sleep late mar... then he'll have his brunch @ 11-11:30 and shower, school start at about 12:30.. this time suits my family style most but this year he is in morning session I got to wake up 6am (this is not a problem) but to finish up his homework + revision before 9:30pm!! This means I got only 2 & half hours to do everything with him after reach home at 7pm.... very hectic

DS1 was in PM session last year P1. He reached home (taking school bus) at about 6:45pm. 7pm started to have his dinner and because he is a fast eater, he usually finised meal at about 7:20pm. 8-9pm were used to go thru' his homework, packing school bags, sharpening pencils & stuffs. 30mins break to watch tv, 9:30pm my hb will go thru' with him once more on the topic taught today at the school (usually about 30mins).


He would then sleeps at 11pm or by 11:30pm. It may not sound right to to others but this is the best solution for hb and me who are full time working adult and yet want to nurture him our way. He usually woke up at 10:30am the next morning to have his breakfast/early lunch before he goes school again..

Is very challenging at the beginning but is a matter of time for us to \"get used to it\"

Really have to sacrifice where one parent to be FT Housewife or Houseman then to achieve this? Hope to hear some expert advices.

Just to share, a staff in my mum's company has a girl in P1 this year and to allow for better work-life balance, my mum has made a special arrangement for this staff.


Their office regular working hours is 8am - 5pm, inclusive of 1 hour lunch break.

Previously when this same staff's girl was in childcare, her work hours was readjusted to 7am - 4pm. Her mum will send her girl to childcare while she came to work and she'll pick her girl up after work by 5pm.

Now that her girl has entered P1 and is in the afternoon session, her working hours has changed to 11.30am - 7.30pm (no lunch break). She spends time in the morning with her girl and leaves home at 11am. She takes a cab to work since there's no peak hour charges. In the evening, her hb picks her girl up, then picks her up and they get to spend the evening together.

If your boss is flexible and willing to negotiate work hours, I think it can be done.

Another alternative my mum gave her was to work shorter hours on weekdays but come back on Saturday mornings when her girl has ballet & tuition.

BASC? How can I determine the good BASC where they would help supervise the homework? Now going to be 24/7 parents once the kid enter P1. :!:


Currently my DS in P1 where in afternoon session.So guess even I put them in BASC in the morning does not seem to help very much.Just a few hours where they have to go school already.
