Other than using thinner and turpentine, are there any ways of removing paint stains from white uniform.

Are they ink stains or paint stains? I was able to remove ball pen ink stains - in fact I just did so this morning. πŸ˜„ I googled for an answer and tried 3 methods - nail polish remover, alcohol and lemon juice but wasn't unsuccessful. Fed up as it is a brand new shirt, I soaked the shirt in warm detergent water for a few minutes, put into the washing machine and bingo the stain was gone. So I am not sure which one works!

Dried emulsion paint stains is very difficult - I had this problem a few months ago and I couldn't remove them.

Use one type of stain remover (I can't remember the name now) and apply and rub thoroughly before you put into the washing machine.


I use the Dylon brand - they used to have 2 kinds - one for penmarks etc (alkaline) and the other for acidic sort (curry gravy, wine stains etc). Now I think they have 3.

Read instructions carefully coz the \"leave-in\" timings may differ.

Same here, I also use Dylon brand, its terrific. Can get easily fm supermkt.
