Actually if a child does not nap, 8pm is a very good bedtime to observe for this age.


sleep at 8pm, working parents may not be able to meet and bond with the kids. by the time we reach home on busy days are near 8pm or later

as my son will b gg P1 next yr, im trying to make him sleep by 830pm as he will be skipping nap at the day care and needs to wake up by 615am.

I am planning the below schedule for my p1 child. Mummies with p1 children, can comment if this is feasible?


6.30am - wake up
7.00am - leave home for school
1.30pm - lunch when reach home
2.30pm - bathe and nap
4.30pm - go through school work
6.30pm - dinner
7.30pm - finish up homework
9.30am - sleep
it is good that your P1 can still nap, mine already stopped napping for quite sometimes.

my P1 schedule is quite similar except that he wakes up at 6.15am cause 6.30am is often too rush as he is a slow coach. And I will try to sit with him for an hour from 7.30pm to 8.30pm to guide him along, after him I still have an older boy to guide (but will skip if I am too tired) I am lucky that his school does not give him too many homework at P1 and will try to get him to bed by 9pm which often drags to 915 to 930pm...feeling bad that he might not have enough sleep.

I still have a youngest kid which I have no time at all to read to him but am trying to squeeze some 10 to 15 mins to read to him before he goes to sleep. FTWM can really be tough as time is always a factor during weekdays. But on the other hand, I am getting burnt out for trying to do the same things over and over again...help! 🤷

dun expect too much from Student care 😓

I still need to check my DD's homework and teach him spelling and ting xie... they dun really teach.They just tell / write down the answer for my son. ..dun think they explain..

Yes they would assist in their homework and learn spelling. But for my child maybe he is a lazy type he would also say no homework but I still check his bag daily and revise his spelling with him.

Hello icedragon81 I am a ftwm and my child is attending student care too. Same as you I fetch my child at about 6pm.I do not think by 8pm your child can go to sleep cos usually there is homework even for pri 1 student. Plus there is also weekly spelling .

6:30 to 7:15 breakfast n get ready for school.
1:40 back from school
1:40 to 2:30 change and lunch
2:30 to 3:30 nap
3:30 to 4 snack time…free time
4 to 5 homework
5 to 6 playground outdoor
6 to 6:30 back home n shower
6:30 to 7:30 dinner n little free time.
7:30 to 9 revision
9:30 sleep.

need to allocate play time (can be indoor or outdoor) for child to wind down, or practise play a musical instrument practice, or allocate time to doodle, read storybooks, or go swimming, etc ?
Need to balance, with some outdoor activities.


half an hour to wake up (6.30 am), leave school (7 am) : very rush, stressful everyday
