You will soon know if they do it on purpose. <br /><br /><br />Would they forget to eat or how to bathe? How did they get this far to leave their home to work overseas? By being forgetful and stupid…NOoooo…I don’t think so!<br /><br />If they are doing it on purpose to leave your employment, then no point wasting your time to get upset…they are just  laughing on the inside. Send them packing.</p>

You turn it off and remind/nag/scold her?<br /><br /><br />When my helper forgot, once I turn it off and remind her, 2nd time onwards, each time I see such lapses, I will make her stop whatever she is doing and come with me and turn the power off. After a few times, a conscientious worker will make the effort to remember.</p>

From your other posts, I feel that she is not putting in effort to listen to instructions.<br /><br />Recently, my SIL got a helper who is unable to communicate well with her due to language prob.  SIL is keeping her as she is obedient.  Just that SIL needs to monitor closely her chores and cant expect the helper to be fast in doing chores.  My 3 y.o. nephew likes her as she plays well with him.<br /><br />My MIL's latest helper cant speak English but she always smiles and greets us. I will tell my maids the possible consequences and explain that it can also befall on them. So far so good. <br /><br /><br />But I did tell them that I have zero tolerance for carelessness or forgetfulness leading to safety lapse. In worst case, I will need to let them go.</p>

The next day, she was spouting information she had gleaned from the internet and asking me questions. Thereafter, she would follow up by asking me about his visits to the TCM, doctor or even after he had a ballooning procedure done.<br /><br />After that, I never really had anymore issues. Though there may be lapses, they are very sporadic and a reminder would suffice.<br /><br />I have learnt that with my helpers, the show and not tell method works best.</p>
