TOTALLY AGREE. WHY follow the TREND if you know that the maid is not deserving?

The maids here are earning a very good salary. What they earn in SGD equivalent will make them live very comfortably in their home country in a matter of years. They should possess good attitude and should show that experience in Singapore has made them better workers.

If they don't show improvement,, forget it. If we are not good in our job, won't get year end bonus, promotion or increment.

So if we intend to renew maid we must give her $50 increment to be on par with the new hire rate? Eg $500 monthly? Previously new hire is $450 per month so that’s 11.5% increment?

Wow, I didn't know maids are so so expensive. Her pay of S$600 a month can easily retire in Indonesia 5-10 years later.

Not just that.. still have food and lodging.. I spend $800 every month on my helper at least cos we eat the same food.. so if my family eats well she gets good food too and eat together not leftovers...

I have bad experience after renews my pinoy maid. She started became lazy always not do her house chores, she always on her phone, facebook and playing games too.. She did not pick up my son on time who was back from primary school and never cook lunch for my son too. I was so upset and disappointed on her. Her attitude is alright for the first two years with us (at that first two year she agreed no handphone and no offday). Therefore when she requested renewed another 2 years with us, but she requested to have mobilephone and offday. We agreed with her. Attitude get worse always says forget this forget that when question her why she has never do the things which I asked her to do. All kind of excuses.... I just sent her back immediately because cannot stand her anymore.

My advise is if the maid no heart to work for you, you may forget her just get a new maid. My personal experience they will changed to bad not changed to better after long times working with the same employer. They just took advantages of the employer....

Chances are you will end up with a worst maid then 1 you already got now. If you can tolerate her then haves chat and keep her on and save money and hassle of training a new maid.

Most friends renewal is $50 extra if they wanted to keep her.

She would like to extend another 2yrs.
Watz the norm for increments?
She was new when she joined mi, 502 (basic 450)+1off mthly.
My agent says an increase of 50.
So 500 + 4offs, is the norm.
And each OFF will b 19.

Find out how much new hires would cost you. The first rule is that their salary should at least match the ones of new hires (yes, even though you don’t think she is worth it!)… because, new hires are the monsters you do not know… and if you think your current one is SO not worth it, you should not renew at all.

At the 1st renewal, she had all Sundays off. Nothing else added thereafter.
