We’re looking for cello lessons near bishan. She has completed grade 5. We have tried Mandeville and music lifestyle academy but they were too far and we always have to book a grab because we cannot ride mrt cuz of the cello. Thank you in advance 😁

if u alr hv bkgrd in music, then not really. if u hv string bkgrd, it's even easier although the clef used most of the time is the bass clef. u still need to know the treble clef too cos the cello will have parts tt \"straddle\" both clefs.


besides tt, r u prepared to hv callouses and suffer some pain to ur fingers until u r used to it? violin and viola strings are thinner and shorter so when ur fingers slide up and down the strings, it's easier but for the cello, when u slide ur fingers and thumb up and down, be prepared to tahan a bit of pain until ur skin is used to it.

lastly, are u going to play cello parts for chinese or western music? if for chinese music, the cello has a bass/accompaniment role so the score will be easier to learn but you may have to read the chinese score aka numbers. for western music, the cello has more prominent parts although not as prominent as the violins, and the score will be the western score aka bean sprout.
Was researching about cello and chanced upon this. Wow, schellen indeed sounded like a cellist Or at least have a child who plays the cello. Hope you can come back to share your knowledge and experience.

She opted for cello. A boy taller than her was chosen to play double bass.

Later discovered Synwin which has several branches, one which is Marina Parade. Liked their stores, equipment and service. Furthermore whatever they did not have, Wayne, the outlet manager would order for me. Price wise, all quite competitive if it is cellos for beginners - paid $480 each.


Did you buy Synwin brand or other brands?
What size did you purchase? Different size different price or same price?
