With several Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) projects coming under fire recently for defects, some Members of Parliament (MPs) have renewed calls for the scheme to scrapped or tweaked, citing the blurred lines of accountability and low public confidence in the quality of these projects

i thought this is already scrapped?

Given the bad press recently, the general populace will be seeing it for what it’s worth. A government flat built to specifications designed to reap the most profit for private developers. Naturally, you can’t have it both ways so we end up with an overpriced flat with questionable workmanship.

hdb flats are singaporeans' entitlement to affordable homes, never for investment purposes. i was really keen in toa payoh (the peak) as daughter's school is just opposite. but the hefty price tag for pathetic size of the rooms scared me off.

Well, the intention of public housing was never meant for flipping. Its to ensure that even low to mid income households can afford a roof over their heads. To me, if their intention was to buy a public flat and flip for profits then got no one else to blame other than their own greed. Im actually glad that the DBSS is now over. I think there is one DBSS project which has reached 5 years.
trivelis, central 8 and pasir ris one would have some problems if owners want to get out.
