I've also had surgery with Dr Seah before but it's for a lasik treatment, but I think the preparation and procedure are somewhat the same? What he did was to put numbing medicine on my eyes to keep them open and looking straight up. You won't feel a thing, promise. I know in some clinics there is also an option to use something like an eye opener or holder, which may be uncomfortable. No
Immediately after the surgery, I felt something stuck in my operated eye. The next day, I felt good because everything seen by this eye was so clear. The feeling is wonderful
Now I go out w/o glasses. The doc recommended a pair of reading glasses but after a month or two

After govt subsidy, the bill for the day surgery was $942 plus some cents
I had 2 consultations after the surgery, one the next day and the other a week after the surgery. The fee for each consultation is $35
The doc did recommend my right eye to be operated soon but I choose to delay till next year. I will return for consultation monthly to monitor the eye pressure and cataract condition

And this should help to relieve my glaucoma symptoms

The surgery with mono focal lens is about 1.5k+ as a subsidised patient
The surgery with multi focal lens is in the range of 5-6k and as a private patient without any subsidy from the government
To avoid any complication, the doctor said go for the standard type ie mono focal
This type is can see far but for near, I would need reading glasses
Anybody has done cataract removal surgery and what lens did you select?

Doc said i could continue using my existing pair of glasses which kind of surprised me as i thought i would get a prescription to make a new pair of glasses soon

the age of getting cataract is younger as years goes by. If there is no urgency you can leave it till later to do unless it starts to thicken. There is no need for a new pair of glasses because there is no change in degree.
Cataract is just like a layer of cloud covering your lenses. šŸ™‚
