Or get my younger son to act out in his comical way what the sentence is describing and we all have a good laugh. Both methods motivate her to remember it faster so works well for us.

It might be better for you to use those groups to source for other parents who may like your idea of getting study buddies for their kids.

Study buddies, btw, are the secret to academic success that surprisingly few people know about. It can make a world of difference to a student's attitude to learning.

Another tip: If your child has a smartphone, teach him/her to READ the tingxie/moxie/spelling words and phrases and record them on the smartphone. Then let him/her playback the words to test him/herself. My daughter practices this And you are right... I'm really a hands-off parent.

But you have given me an idea. Combine the two! Get your kid to skype with her classmate and then do tingxie and moxie for each other online! They can take turns to either be the tester or the student. Saves on your travelling. Also very fun for the kids.

ChiefKiasu

Reply to weekly 听写 prep/revision on Mon, 10 Aug 2015 00:35:27 GMT

It’s ok, my kid is willing to take on another spelling list, thus thought of the idea.

Thanks for the heads up mate.
