Hi,

Can I check where to renew maid’s passport? My helper is from Indonesia.
I believe the embassy still at 7 Chatsworth Road S249761 in the Tanglin area.

I think they wld require an online appointment to be made. Do make photocopies of all documents (old passport, Work Permit, bank account, etc) & bring 2 latest photo. May I suggest yr helper not send money home 3 months before renewing passport so as to show her sufficiency to support herself if required. Thereafter, she can send her money home. Not sure if they still want Employment Contract to be shown to proof salary arrangements, off-days, etc. when I did my Indo helper’s renewal years ago, they insists I do one & gave me a template & a list of law firms to get it notarised. Was quite stressful then coz my arrangement then was my helper agreed to be compensated instead of going out.

If u take the normal processing of 3 days, then it’ll cost $35, o’wise express will cost $100. Yr helper is expected to purchase a SMARTPAC fr the Post Office, which new passport will be sent tobyr home address.

* no agreement required. But I was thinking of drawing up 1 to say we will follow the terms and conditions of previous. But compensation etc have been adjusted.

Good for you to DIY. It’s so simple doing w/o agent.

Once u renew her passport, do rmbr to go online to update her new passport number. No cost involved. Just use singpass & go MOM online update. I normally prefer to renew passport first then renew WP, so I don’t forget & it’s neat.

Where did u get this? This sounds like u’re an agent requiring these documents. Contracts are privy btwn eyer & helper. Details will alr hv been input into MOM database when eyer do own online renewal application

These are all done via contract & bank account these days. There’s nvr a payslip for majority of helpers

6. A copy of the maid’s last performance evaluation

Huh? I’ve only heard of PE for one frd who is a HR personnel herself. 99.99% of SG eyers do not do PE for domestic work

7.An application fee of S$60 (inclusive of GST)

Payment via MOM online with credit card

8. A security bond of S$5,000

After online Renewal application, can eyer proceed to call up insurance companies for such covers.

When one do renewals of WP for helpers without agent, not all of the abv are required when we do MOM online renewals with Singpass (as indicated in blue or red in response).

You can sound out the maid if she intends to return for home leave, noting the current travel restrictions and numerous testings and isolation requirement etc.
If she is not planning to return, then it is easier.
If she plans to return, does she plan to come back to work with you? What if during that time, our countries impose restrictions and she cant come back etc? I dont have this experience and maybe we wait for other mums to share.

WP expires on 6 Sep 2021

Step 1: choose the insurance plan.
Once you have decided on the plan, you start to enter the details of helper and employer online. In my case, since the WP expires on 6 Sep, the new INS will auto starts on 7 Sep 2021 and expires on 6 Nov 2023. There is no way to change to the dates we want. After making payment, the policy doc was emailed to me. I will print a few key pages on coverage etc for my helper.

According to MOM, I need to wait for 3 working days before MOM receives the new INS. It is only after MOM receives the new INS in place then I can renew the WP.

On 26 Jul, the iINS portion in MOM website is still the existing one.

On 27 Jul, the INS portion is updated ie the new INS was listed in MOM website.

Step 2: renew WP in MOM website.
After logging in using SingPass, there is a renew WP option (on RHS).
Just click on it and follow the instructions to pay $35 for renewal.

After payment, two pdf will be available;
one for the helper stating her WP has been renewed and will expire on 6 Sep 2023;
the other for the employer that the helperś WP has been renewed and will expire on 6 Sep 2023

The whole process is very simple and foolproof.


If you know who you need to bring as a helper and can trust ur overseas facilitator then no need for Singapore Agent sharks.

Previously, I made a mistake when trying to renew WP. I just went straight to apply WP, but actually I was supposed to go to the renew work permit. Wasted a few weeks of anxious waiting then. Now I’m recalling every step is impt so our mind don’t go imagining what our helper did wrong not to get fast renewal. Good thing we kick-start renewal of WP early which gave us time. We called & MOM explained when we go apply WP, the MOM take it that we’re applying for a new helper. That was the reason for the delay & held back.

Does the employer need to bear the cost for her 14-day quarantine and all the medical tests required when she arrives in her country?
I can cancel her WP after I purchase the air ticket, right?

Since passport still valid (assume more than 24 mths) then nothing else need to be done except renewal online with MOM & ensure u get a written consent for her flight encashment. Deposit into her POSB acct.
