To accumulate good merits, I would think 时时心存善念, 多积口德 are easily achievable and also no need monetary, anyone can do it.

Once a person has 善念 will also naturally become more 豁达
纠结一件事或讨厌一个人都需要花力气。又累又不值呀

And with 善念 undesirable and negative 情绪 like 妒嫉狠 or own self torture own self kind of emotions will automatically leave one alone. Then naturally one can become a much happier person and that itself is already a reward to oneself.

My simplistic way of thinking lah 😉

I have made plans for kids this school holiday. Plan 1 is they have to 大扫除 their room, discard rubbish (can't even open their drawers now!) and reorganise content of their bookshelves (also super mess!)


I haven't reach plan 2 😂
Typically I will give 大方向 and they will devise their own detailed plan
Kids have been busy packing since Tuesday afternoon. dd2 is done with her drawers. Today should be able to finish packing her table top.
dd1 is still work in progress. Her progress abit slow. After finished packing desk and drawers, there's still content of their bookshelves to reorganise.

They sorted all their books into 3 stacks on Tuesday. 1 pile to keep, 1 pile to read again before giving away, 1 pile is no need to read can give away immediately. At least now my dining room is neat again. Previously all scattered with books waiting for them to decide what to throw and what to keep.

They haven't start studying though. Still doing housekeeping.

I prefer hard copies too. I will make payment when I received credit card statements. If no hard copy very hard to keep track of due date, different for different banks and very likely forget to pay if no hard copy to remind

use giro..bad thing is will sometimes never check through. hope no error there. nowadays i will try to scan through. so long as no same amount (double charge) and from the few places I frequent to then should be alright.

Why not subscribe to e-magazine?

We have Popular Science and Times subscriptions on hard copy.
The boys and hubby are reading them.
I have managed to coach them into leaving these at the newspaper pile once everyone has read the magazine.
dd1 insisted to keep magazines to re-read, refused to throw. We still have readers' digest and national geographic from some years ago. I stopped subscribing to magazines. Space constraint. Nowadays she borrowed from school library if she wants to read readers' digest. This round of spring cleaning she finally allowed me to throw kids national geographic from her primary school days 😓

I only bag the newspaper and other paper products once a week to dump at the recycling bin at our estate.
I do that twice a month. We only buy newspapers on weekends so not that much. Also accumulate used envelopes, flyers etc into same pile for recycling.

I use plastic protective sheets for the filing of cc statement every month, which is kept in an arch file.

1 sheet for each cc bank. Each sheet holds Jan to Dec of a year.
Come Jan of the new year, I will throw out the preceding year Jan to Dec cc statements in 1 plastic sheet.
Cc statements sorted by bank in the sheets also made reference easy when necessary.

Feeling lethargic. I think I have done too much packing (by my standard) the last few days. Now maybe 40% done with my packing.

Still have another 60% to chiong arh :faint: And those are just kids' school stuff.

I have even more to pack if include their story books and magazines. And my 3 years worth of credit card statements and all sort of letters to sort through either to file or discard. Procrastination!

Went to my parents' house to whine just now. Told them maybe I will be packing till next year :nailbite:
No sympathy from my parents. They know my pattern 做两天停三天 😓

For now, I really need at least 2 days break to recuperate 😂
Dug out my post from last October.
:rahrah: I finally finished sorting through 3 years worth of statements and letters. Actually more than 3 years. I found statements/letters dated as far back as beginning of 2013. Wah I don't think I can complain about my kids' messiness, abit 心虚 now leh 😂

Next is to do filing. And figure out what to do with their magazines and storybooks :faint:

Not recommended. Workmanship is good but that boss was running a big business. His workers only showed up for half a day once a week. My $10k+ engagement was ikan bilis to him so of low priority.
He delayed completion of my renovation. I had to extend my lease for another 2 months while waiting for carpentry work to be completed.

Don't think I will engage him again.
