It took us a long time to get my parents (in their 70s) to learn to use mobile phones about 6-8 yr ago. They couldn't even remember properly how to dial and hang up (never mind the small keypads…). Checking for missed calls, who called and last dialed, etc. were beyond them. Forget about sms as they were not formally educated much.

But we managed to finally get them to know how to use the phones to stay contactable.

Then 2 yr ago, when we wanted to recontract to get them newer phones, we found out the telcos have no more dumb phones to recontract. We unwillingly moved on to the smart phones, and it was cycle reset, tougher this time as there's more things to learn, some of which are useful so we persisted.

We still keep 2 of these dumb phones, very useable still. Until last month, we let DD used it (with a prepaid card) when she goes for tuition. As she just started sec sch this year, we got her a smart phone, finally. My father would use the other one for the rare trips he goes to China, when he will buy a local sim card to use.

Oh, what's the best thing about these phones, a humorous classmate joked that they have special theft-proof feature! :rotflmao:
Put on table unattended, also noone will take 😆

my papa uses his as radio to listen to 95.8
