A new year…and a new chapter for many I’m sure. Time flies and time waits for no man.

DD’s 1st day in Secondary today. I accompanied her there and it felt so different now. She walked from the bus stop and through the school gate with one of her primary school friend, waved goodbye to me (who was walking behind a group of school mates, walking deliberately slowly) and that was it! A different picture from that 1st day in Primary 1.

Now that both kids are in secondary school, I feel kinda disoriented. It is now time to think about what I want to do next.

DD's P6 chapter is finally closing (still have to wait for Sec1 posting). Although results are average, we are so happy for her as she improved from her Prelims.


It is a huge relief and it is time to have a good holiday.
:hi5: I feel the same. After s1 posting, it is the end of primary school.
We are enjoying ourselves everyday...eat and sleep anytime we wish. It's so shiok. Last year this period, we were having tuition preparing for Psle.

my daughter is playing in school every day...yes, they are really monkeying around while the rest of the levels are preparing for exams. my girl told me yesterday she was the 'most hardworking' while her classmates were playing card games and making noise. you know what, her friend lent her the mobile phone to watch youtube (her own data plan is very limited). :faint: :slapshead: i was like, 'that's what you call hardworking???'

Wah Janet, you MUST be SUPER stressed having to go through both PSLE as well as O Lvl this year! But must try to stay cool. You deserve a long long break at the end of the year. Must sure you pamper yourself big time. After the chiong-ing, your ME time takes priority.

I cannot imagine my turn next time .... O levels PLUS A Levels together !!! .... :yikes:
last friday was the official last day of school for sec 4s...other than certain days when he has to go back for additional lessons (1-2 hours), have to tone down play time, because son is at home studying for his Os...so have to spare him some consideration. his first paper will be next wed 19/10.

compared to psle, studying for o levels is pretty much on his own. what i can offer is only mental support like preparing him manuka drinks, getting him his comfort food and making sure he has enough sleep.

I saw the date of my last entry and it is almost surreal to note that my DD's PSLE papers are all over and done with! She has worked hard these past 9 months ( and mind you, so have I :evil: ) and I am sure all P6s and their parents can FINALLY relax. It's time to party! :rahrah:


DD told me that a teacher in school commented that their batch this year is the first batch she has ever noticed to be in such HIGH spirits before each PSLE paper. :boogie: Indeed, I noticed this too. When ds was taking the PSLE, the atmosphere was more solemn and many pupils were looking at their notes. This year, the kids were chatting and even playing catching! I guess different kids deal with stress differently! So this is how kids from Year of the Monkey behave! LOL! Not sure whether other parents notice this as well??!!!

Anyway, a BIG pat on the back to all mummies and daddies. We survived this episode! :celebrate:

Our kids have been blessed with examiners who have been patient and willing to explain what the picture for the stimulus conversation required.
Even my son told me his oral yesterday was not something out of the moon.

after daughter's prelims this week, we will breathe a little easier and then chiong for the last hurdle.

The PSLE orals came and gone and it is also surreal. Can't believe that the orals are over so quickly. I guess the focal point is still the PSLE Papers next month and we parents are bracing for that.

DD said she was not nervous during the Orals, largely as the examiners did not look stern and impatient. DD is the reserved type so when she said she was not nervous, half the battle is won already. 😂

I was disappointed with what the FT said (or what she did not say). It was ambiguous and vague and I wonder whether she knew what she was saying or not. Perhaps she was protecting the pupil by not divulging too much or she was defending her position or she simply did not know the pupil well at all. A bit odd coming from a P6 teacher. 🤷

DD's math tutor even said that her paper was quite a killer paper so I am happy that she managed to pass. Thank goodness! 😓


Although there are improvements and disappointment here and there, I am glad the half yearly's all history. Time to push on.

DS also did well considering the time he spent on revision is near zero (in my eyes). He would have gotten High Distinction if watching manga is a subject! lol

english paper? i didn't ask. in fact, i hardly asked my kids how they performed for their exams each time.

i fill in the answers from the answer sheet and then hubby will explain to her in detail. since there is no time to do any concrete revision, this method will have to make do.
