But recently there was a knock on my door, mp (pap) coming and asked us to meet. Nothing about what we wanna tell mp. We complained about something to mp and first time see so many pp take down notes, contact number etc with assurance that something will be done. What I had asked for is not easy, so not expecting instant results....but at least MP popped by (thus popping hubby's complaint that he never sees mp around).[/quote]I don't entertain grassroots either. I email my MP directly if I have a complaint.

For those serial complainants that complain about much ado about nothing, some can be rather violent/psychotic, so I'm sure the grassroots guys would have earmarked them...and cleverly ushered the MP away from their units in case they throw hammers or spanners out of their house at the GRLs/MPs. Some hostile ones can heckle, like CSJ heckled the then PM GCT, until you're out of sight! I am curious why must email the MP to get concerns/requests actioned very promptly. Cannot email the relevant authorities/departments directly meh? Is it because the relevant authorities/departments see you no up, and so everything must go through MP first? :siam:

You mustn't forget that there are illiterate, lowly educated residents, Chinese/dialect-speaking residents, IT illiterate residents, handicapped residents who cannot go far to the Head Office??

And the greatest 'problem' is, the Head Office long long time ago had already outsourced/delegated to the local authorities/town council/grassroots organisations (to give them some responsibilities) to sort these things out. Who's got the time at HDB Hub to attend to pipe leakage, paintworks, etc.? They are policy makers, not the facility mgmt services folks.

jetsetter

Reply to Another by election on Wed, 04 May 2016 07:31:19 GMT

tankee:
Its amusing to see so many new initiatives Murali managed to devise out for this by election, since it has not been long after the GE, almost as though the previous MP was \"sleeping on the job\".

Well, I'm not amused at all. All these were probably done half way under that $24mil grand plan devised by his predecessor DO, but rehashed by Murali in the form of a new $1.9mil mini plan (probably part of the $4-5mil set aside per year of that 5-year-old plan anyway). Nothing ingenious, but do BB residents bother? Those that TMG interviewed (see my link above) were unfazed by DO's indiscretions and most were happy with him. These are the voters who don't care about new plans. They just want this BE to be over and done with, continue with whatever upgrading under that approved budget that was committed before the resignation of DO and get on with their mundane lives.

jetsetter
