<![CDATA[Which petrol brand do you stay loyal to and why?]]>The station I frequent has decided to shut itself down until further notice. So in view of convenience, I am thinking of re-evaluating my options. There are many convenient choices around so I want to hear from your experiences before I decide.


I use Esso and the rewards seem attractive(I can change for a rice cooker and a vacuum cleaner at the same time with the points I have collected in not so long duration), but that is also because I have no idea what others are offering.. :lol:

Can you share which petrol brand do you pump and why? I like to understand the perks better so that I can make an informed decision to switch camp. πŸ˜‰

Also 95 or 98 any difference for your car?
I use 95 and feel no difference when I pump 98 or I am just so immuned..

Before the merge, Shell was the most. After Esso merged with Mobil, Esso became the most.

I often pick up some grocery from the kiosk and I find the ESSO one newer, cleaner and more pleasant than the other petrol stations (SPC one is OK).

Reason is I inherited my auntie’s Smiles card. However, recently shifted. Needs to detour to find a Esso station. Caltex is just on the right side of the road along the way home. I have been tempted to switch to Caltex.


Used to pump 98 and now downgraded to 95. Feels that there is less power from 95.

So how do your cars perform? Mine can get 11+ km/l on average. Best was 13km/l, worst was 9+ km/l. Since starting to send DD to school in the morning and getting stuck in traffic more often, think I can't get that good mileage out of a tank now.

We do reset too.

Is it common feature for all cars to show the km/ ltr???

The efficiency really depends on the route travelled. If it is expressway throughout and manageable traffic then the efficiency will be high.


more and more newer car models are coming with this as standard.

I use SPC - out of habit rather than anything. And use Stan Chart's Xtrasaver - 7% cash rebate on petrol purchases (ALL stations).


BTW, SPC's card allocates petrol discounts based on past spending. I understand that you can have up to 3 cards per account. So if your family has multiple cars (sister/father/friends), can group together to accumulate your petrol purchases and move up the discount level.

Yea, also confused.
But what i like about citibank is that they send you a cheque after every quarter so you can spend it in anyway you like, unlike most of the others where you have to redeem a voucher, or continue to spend using the card in order to enjoy the cashback.
