<![CDATA[Crabs]]>Recently Giant IMM has been selling Chilean King Crab (smallest type of King Crab, but still gigantic compared to mud crab/flower crab).


Lowest price I saw was $36 for 2. Not sure if the offer is still on.

son loves black pepper crab while daughter loves crab done with salted egg yolk.

What's so nice about using any ingredient eg crabs with salted egg yolk?

Is it really that nice?I used to eat Teochew porridge with it.

DH likes his mud crabs cooked with white,black pepper or butter.I like my chili crabs.

I find that I like to eat flower crabs more than mud crabs in recent years because they have more meat.Do you find that so as well?

Fortunately I do not eat sushi or anything raw. But not being able to eat half boiled eggs was a torture.

I tried Sri Lankan and Malaysian crabs.Recently,DH secretly bought a portion of Russian crabs from Kuriya which he used part of it to cook porridge and Tom Yum soup.There is still a bit hidden away in the freezer.

I cant eat the Russian crabs as DH banned me from doing so due to my pregnancy.

Tried Vietnamese crabs fried with white pepper a few years ago at the zi char shop near my block.The taste was unforgettable.

crabs are very expensive. much as i would love to go to jumbo to enjoy black pepper crab, i think 2 crabs (chilli and black pepper) will set me back by $200, excluding other seafood.

Another alternative is flower crab.We are just paying for the weight of mud crabs and not much meat too...

If you really want to eat crabs,why not visit the Japanese supermarket at Marina Square and get the Russian or Alaskan king or snow crabs?The taste is heavenly.

I did not buy the whole thing,only bought a few fat legs.

if you like the teochew cold crab, you can find reasonably priced ones @Food Canopy nearby Botanic Gardens. Just pop over to parktor with hub lah...donch need to bring whole family.

I seem to have this vague impression that I ever tried going to the Jurong one. But when we reached there, the guard house looked like immigration checkpoint or sthg like this and there were many heavy vehicle moving above...so unsure we got the right place and we aborted the mission.
