You can upgrade to SSD, which will boot up your computer startup time considerably. Ask the vendor and they should be able to do it for you. But, of course it will cost more than a HDD.

I suppose this will only be applicable for new laptop purchase.

Some months ago I sent my 2012 Fujitsu to the service centre to repair the jumping screen display and at the same time to reformat n reinstall Windows 7 as I kept getting a blue screen after each Windows 10 updates. Was told by the service centre staff that the 2012 Fujitsu is incompatible with Windows 10, hence the constant blue screen.

Anyway, after I took the laptop home, I was never able to update Windows 7.

Managed to find a solution online last weekend- to download and install April and July 2015 service packs. It took at least 1.5 days to get everything downloaded and installed.

Hopefully this Fujitsu laptop can last another few years.

Does product catalogue indicate which Gen the SSHD is?

I think I yet to come across the spec of the SSHD in Asus catalogue 2017.

How do we find out then?

The catalog typically states only the bare minimal info regarding
the storage...capacity, type (HDD, SSHD, SSD), rpm, cache.

If you can manage to bring up the device manager, then you can find
the model of the hdd and google it.

Then it is up to the salesperson's knowledge when the consumer walks into the shop to make enquires.

I was reading some of the reviews on BestBuy, it seems important to know the rpm of HDD and that for some laptops, can upgrade to SSD and move the OS to the SSD so that boot time is reduced greatly if the rpm of the HDD is \"unbearable\".

It is not common for notebooks to do that due to the space constraint to accommodate 2 drives.
You will have to pay quite a bit for it.

Now that the Realteck is disabled, 13 secs from power button to login screen, 13 secs from login to screen indicated battery strength n wifi connected.

Is the Realtek the culprit?

What other implcations of disabling it?

Btw I am not a gamer at all, so no need for high graphics card or vroom sound effects 😉

Desktop not feasible as I do not have a place to put at home.

I was thinking the same as slmkhoo, not desktop, but an external keyboard.

Can get those rubber keyboard which you can roll up and put away when not needed,
