I have made note of the places to cover around Seattle.

Let me see what other places I can add in my itinerary.

You're very welcome! If you're looking to fly into Sea-Tac (Seatlle-Tacoma International), your best bet is to get a flight into SFO and then go on Alaskan Air or Virgin America into Sea-Tac unless you don't mind the super long travelling time with more stop overs.
United flies direct into SFO. You can also take SQ or ANA, with 1 stopover each. Alaskan Air's hub is at Sea-Tac, and there are lots of flight into and out of Sea-Tac from San Francisco.

And if you really want to visit San Diego, a round trip domestic on Virgin America from Sea-Tac, is about USD$200, depending on your day of departure. For Grand Canyon, I don't think VX flies there and Alaskan is expensive if you fly into Flagstaff, AZ.

Therefore if Grand Canyon is a must visit, the most economical way that I know of, is to get a SEA-Las Vegas and drive from there. You're looking at at least USD$400 plus round trip.

Oops! I forgot to add - If you're buying 2 separate round-trips - SIN-SFO and then SFO-SEA, you can consider the 'in-between', meaning either on your way to or on your way back home, you can get a separate SFO-LAS (Vegas) and drive to Grand Canyon from there.

I hope I'm making sense.

harvardalum

Reply to Flight tickets to West Coast on Wed, 22 Feb 2017 03:10:36 GMT

Thanks for your replies. The cascade mountain range is breathtakingly beautiful. If you want to look around the city, there's the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Boardwalk overlooking the Puget Sound, Seattle Public library, Discovery Park, Canoeing on Lake Union...University of Washington's Red Square is pretty popular too.

What's worth visiting, in my opinion, is the Snoqualmie Falls at the foothills of the Cascade and definitely the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit. I was blown away! You will not regret the visit.

I almost forgot about the Ballard Locks. You may be able to see salmons migrating to and from the locks if you're lucky.
A picture of Mt Rainier is good too.

Hope this is of some help.
Have fun

harvardalum

Reply to Flight tickets to West Coast on Tue, 21 Feb 2017 02:20:21 GMT

You don’t have to be limited to LAX or SFO gateway when flying on Star carriers. Unless she takes Eva Air that flies her direct from TPE to SEA.

Indeed, it's more expensive to fly by domestic airlines from Seattle to various West Coast cities in NV, AR and CA, etc. I'd done the West Coast tour via 100% domestic flights before (yes, check-in check-out until we went berserk cos of the 3 diff time zones within the USA!) and the whole trip cost me more than my earlier 100% land tour in West Coast.

If you go by land, you sleep over at 5-star hotels or motels (if you're cheapskate) along the highway enroute to the next city, rather than a hotel within the city centre, which obviously will cost a lot more.

The latter doesn't make sense, cos a lot of US attractions are not within the city centres. You have to get out from your city centre hotel no matter what to visit them, e.g. National Parks, Disney, Universal, Sea World, factory outlets...you have to drive out to the suburbs from your hotel and back at night. I left Disney at 10pm and drove back in the dark to my city centre hotel.
