It's where I host https://shurn.me and a few other subdomains. Then I use cloudflare to CDN most of the asset traffic. I also bought 3 year reserved instance. Now I only pay minimally for some traffic and storage.


But, you must be very technologically savvy to fine tune the system in such a way that an extremely low end server can serve a decent traffic.

Does any have details knowledge on this? I want to know per year rate? For how long in advance I can pay? If I am not happy, how to change from one company to another for hosting? How do I change web hosting company?

I signed up for the basic web hosting package: 5GB, the ability to host up to 5 domains and 10 email boxes. The cost is $120 if you pay a year in advance and per domain registration is $20. I find their charges very reasonable in the market right now.

I’ve signed up with Vodien. Their pricing seems reasonable and even their most basic package allows me to host up to 5 sites. I’ll most likely consolidate my sites on them (and scale up the package as they expand).

If you just need to host a simple site, you can consider subscribing to wordpress.com.


However, if you need to scale your website, you might want consider going for wordpress.org. Go to bigger players for hosting, their uptime usually are better. Especially, if you run some sort of online business/shop. GoDaddy and Hostgators (used them, quite reliable) usually run regular promotions. Do keep a lookout for those.

I do use WordPress.com for a low traffic, low usage http://www.obliquetravel.com. It is mainly used as a depository for/of my own musings. Unfortunately, using them come with a lot of challenges if you intend to monetize the site due to their restrictive TOS. Thus, for a small business, it wouldn't make sense to host on them.
