Hello! Thanks for the dm... I did not purchase the bundle. Rather, whenever my child needs clarifications (to which I cannot easily find free & reliable explanations), I'd purchase an online course for that component. The courses have indeed helped us understand the components well, & this understanding is also reflected in the strong grades we are able to obtain during school checkpoints

So, imho, courses can be worthwhile IF:
(1) you & your child are willing to commit Time & Effort (jot down notes, print out relevant tips...) to go through the entire course, & try to Apply the strategies
(2) more so when you have a younger child who can also use the same course (there is no expiry date; & whenever there's content update, you get to view the latest information too at no extra charge!)

I signed up my boy for "P3/4 The Write Recipe: GAME ON!" a 2 day writing workshop recently and I was not told that the materials used are the same as last year when I enrolled him for the same class when he was in P3.

So I asked for a refund for the class after my boy feedbacked after Day 1 that the materials are the same as last year. I checked through his notes from last year and indeed, they were the same. He didn’t go for Day 2 as everything is the same and he could just review it again on his own.

I am also surprised that the centre did not update their materials and used the same year after year.

While LBM customer service is usually very prompt in answering queries, it seemed that they are losing track on this issue as I have not heard from them for more than 1 week. It is very disappointing as I thought they are one of the leading English Tuition Centres but perhaps they have been too focused on expansion and they have neglected the quality aspects of things. I truly hope I am wrong in making this judgement as my boy is with LBM for his regular English classes and so far things have been alright.

Any parent facing similar issue ?

I must say that their content lacks depth and though designed in a \"cute\" fashion to attract students.

Hi! Can share when you said younger kids find it hard to grasp the terms, how young are these kids? If kids don't understand and ask teachers, will teacher explain clearly?

Also, what do you mean by the content lacks depth? Are you comparing compo writing or general English lesson notes? Thanks in advance!

I think the fees are not compeititive enough and the courses' standard is just not up to par.

The lessons is on the more expensive side, at around $80/lesson but we find that it is worth it.

One point that I wish to highlight is, after every assignment, usually the teacher will mark and ask the students to do corrections provided on the screen, and explain the answers to them. That is great.


However, could be due to immaturity of my son, I don’t think he understands fully what the teacher meant. That make things really difficult for us to do revision with him.

I found out from my friend that some tuition centres provide answer keys to give not only answers, but also explain why it was answered this way, and some common mistakes we make. On top of that, they even tell us how the marks are allocated.

If we have such materials, I believe we can help our children much better in our revision.

You might want to try The ALternative Story. Their packages are much in depth. I have tried Lil Mighty, I didn't think their programmes are useful for my DD English revision
