i was searching for him a play group (pg)
to register him when he turn 18m

but then, he only managed to go
pg when he was 2yo (due to wait list)

main purpose - let him socialise and mix around

personally, i dont tink its super kiasu,
just being kiasu …
depending what is your purpose … hahaha

Kindergarten may not be compulsory in singapore, but I don't think kids can cope with primary school if they don't attend some kindergarten.
Oops...don't get me wrong...I don't mean to tell you not to send your child to kindergarten. What I'm trying to say is that you don't have to follow the path taken by others to the dot. You should make your own assessment, and determine what's best for your child. Hope I'm clearer now. :oops:

I looked at my nephews’ P1 work and I was like, "You do all this stuff in P1?" I think I would have flunked all the way through primary school if I were a student now, cos I didn’t learn to read before primary 1.

You can always work backwards. 😄

P1 is 7, so K2 - 6, K1 - 5, N2 - 4, N1 - 3.
But there are parents (like your SIL) who put their kids into some program at 18 months.

Just rememebr what others do, does not mean you have to follow. So it is not really necessary to get your child started at 18mths. In fact, nursery and kindergarten are not even compulsory in Singapore!

wahahaha! So I too kiasu isit? Cos my sil told me that the waiting list is like one year for the more popular schools! :shock: And she put my niece in nursery when my niece was 18mths.
