Better hardware? Apple iPhone never (ever) had the best hardware. Competitors are always miles ahead.

Better software? Android 9.0 Pie was released 6 months ago. How many NEW Android phones are running that?

Better integration of hardware and software? This is the reason why Apple is king. Would probably take competitors another 5 years to catch up.

Better ecosystem? See above. Would probably take competitors another 10 years to catch up.

If it’s a phone that serves basic function, any phone.

If it’s a phone for mobile photography, maybe S10 or some of the flagship phones.

All along the 3 of us shared a plan.
Today we were told no more such plan; dd and I each pay $25 per mth w/o contract for 3gb + 10gb (promo until 6 mar)!
Dh’s would be under corporate plan at $40 per mth with the above amt of data.
The staff checked our history and found we were with StarHub since 1999! In the end she found a Welcone Plan for dd and I; we each pay $8 per mth with 1gb and 50min outgoing. The Plan lasts a year.
We bought iphone Xs at $799 too; most likely dd will be using since am still ok with my old iphone.

But its price (more likely that of more powerful models) will fall over time, probably down to Galaxy Note ranges, as more people take it up. Remember Samsung isn't the only player here, and there are tons of hungry innovators in China ready to jump in.

The key word is to hang on to your phones. It will take at least 2 more years before the Fold (or its variants) becomes more regular. Hold on to your horses.

I upgrade yearly so can pass my phone to kids . Dd is still using 5s well. Next month I upgrade to XR n will pass my i8 to ds n dd will get 7s fr ds - tats how I recycle my I phone down the line - So I continue Apple . But not sure other brand can be this sturdy ?

I have the budget to change my iphone but it is really wasteful to dump my current working well 5S (cant rem but the one with large screen). Dd holds a later version of iphone and certainly wont want my old iphone. Dh is into Samsung.

Some said iPhone is expensive due to its brand and other brands are working equally well if not better. I am still pondering.

Huawei’s Kirin 980 chip has an Android 9 Pie-powered EMUI 9.0 onboard, which could help it outperform Apple’s hardware in everyday tasks. Apple’s A12 Bionic is also an extremely high performing chip.

For the battery, Mate 20 Pro has a huge 4,200mAh battery pack which should easily provide more than a day and a half of near-constant use. The iPhone XS’ 2,658mAh battery probably will not last longer than a day.

For the cost, Huawei is definitely cheaper!

That was a long time ago. But I think you can try your luck with the local Apple stores since the grace period just expired.

I have changed my battery last year for $38 at Apple centre in Orchard. But now I have moved on to Samsung Note 9 😉

There was an article in The Straits Times early last year (or end of 2017?) about it. Apple was offering the $38 battery replacement because Apple was found out that it was purposefully throttling some older iPhones in order to conserve battery life. It was quite a news worldwide so I thought everybody knows about it. :?

Have you changed your iphone? Mine is still iphone 5+. Everything is still ok except the battery is getting weaker.
Starlight, last year Apple has a program to change battery. If I am not wrong, original price was $128 but Apple was selling it at $38. I couldn't remember which iPhone models were eligible for the $38 price.
