I gotten a place in Sengkang green MK for 2019 for my girl. But it is in the afternoon session. I wrote in for request to change to morning session. Anyone have similar experience to share ?

I dont think that will ever happen. MOE is trying to dilute/eradicate the elitism enclaves that have been entrenched in the popular schools. Hence the reservation of places in phase 2C for “outsiders”.


This move for affiliation into government neighborhood schools...I see it as driving some demand into the chronically undersubscribed schools (eg Blangah Rise and Farrer Park). For the northeast, I believe they have the stance that there are plenty of other new neighborhood schools in the Punggol/Sengkang region to absorb these kids if balloted out.

How does this MK kindergarten ruling work ?

Suppose at N2 (4 year old), parents signed up a toddler, to study at MK kindergarten, X.

3 years later, after going througg N2, K1 and K2 (6 year old) graduation -
can this child then enrol into any of those 12 primary schools listed Above, or this child can only enrol into that one & only one affliated primary school, in which that MK kindergarten X is specifically affliated to ?

This is actually old wine in new skin. Once upon a time, there were 60-70 pre-primary schools in the late 70s. Did you guys attend any pre-primary school that was affiliated to your primary school? The nation-wide registration then was administered by MOE and places were snapped up really fast by kiasu parents as those partner-schools were mainly Chinese or mission schools (deemed 'branded').


It's good that they are doing this with govt schools in the new towns. Perhaps, over time, these 12 schools will become uber popular and 'branded' like those former pre-primary/primary schools. Take some pressue off those traditionally hot primary schools.

Yes my brother and I attended the 1 year of pre-primary education (now equivalent to K2) located in the CHS and SNGS campuses respectively.

Yes perhaps the intention is to bump up the popularity of the neighbourhood primary schools with co-located MOE Ks. I just pity those in the North-East, how are those primary schools' balloting history now? Are they already over-subscribed? And will PRs grab onto this \"loophole\" to leapfrog over SCs in the later phases?
