Now am resting at the Business Class Lounge at Dubai airport. Oh my it’s so small here in the Dubai airport business class lounge compared to our SQ SilverKris lounge in Changi Airport. But the buffalo wings, laksa and satay served at the Ahlan Business Class Lounge are yummy.

Ok cannot complaint much since DH paid for the business class tickets. I really enjoy our SQ business class cabin. :please:

Ok we went to Coya and Nusr.Et and both are at the Four Seasons hotel !
The Four Seasons hotel is so nice unlike the one in SG.

I highly recommended both restaurants. No regrets!
My favourite at COYA was the Sea Bass Cazuela and it’s the most expensive dish among the others we ordered Lol.

My dinner appt at Nusr.Et was at 8pm on a Sunday and suprisingly the place was half empty and crowds only came in slightly later and slowly filled up the restaurant.

I also went to another nice restaurant Zuma. The atmosphere is very nice and classy with a cozy bar at the higher level. However the price is not cheap. I would go there again the next time I visit Dubai.

Oh and we’ve tried the Dune bashing and camel riding and it’s an unforgettable experience !

Overall, we really enjoyed our Dubai trip !
:rahrah:

Reply to [Fun Poll] Holidays 2018 - Where You'll be Going on Thu, 06 Dec 2018 09:04:46 GMT

Hi there!

I am from Ideactio, a design & business consultancy, and we are currently doing a research project to understand people’s needs when it comes to travelling.

We are looking for interview participants who have travelled overseas for a vacation in the past 1 year, or are looking to travel in the next 1 year.

The interview will be conducted at a place and time of your convenience (preferably during work hours), and will last approximately 1 hour. At Staatsoper, kids can get in at a flat rate of 15euros for any price categories for full-length concerts. There is no age limit per se. If you want to bring them in to watch full-length concerts for adults, just use your own good sense/judgment, as diff kiddos react/behave diffrerently in an enclosed theatre setting.

.010675zeit

Reply to [Fun Poll] Holidays 2018 - Where You'll be Going on Wed, 05 Dec 2018 10:18:18 GMT

.zeit:
I think in Wien, it's mostly classical operas, ballet and philharmonic/symphony orchestra performances that one must watch, not so much musicals or plays (those are hotter in UK & US).

Esteema: Which musical did you watch? It’s not very expensive actually - under $300 for a short flight if you book from Klook.

Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Dubai Fountain can be covered in 1 day.
Atlantis 1 day
Desert Safari 1 day
Old Dubai (Deira) - Dubai Creek dhow cruise, Gold Souk, Spice Souk 1 day
Jumeirah Beach, Burj Al Arab (hi tea), Souk Madinat Jumeirah 1 day

There is a Dubai Museum and Global Village, which were so-so to me, but you get to learn about the history of Bedoiun nomads, British protectorate, oil discovery, desert architecture, irrigation, modernization of UAE by the Sheikhs, and urbanization.

Ritz Carlton is near Dubai Marina. You can join a yacht tour from the marina if you’ve not been on one before. I also like to dine at Dubai Marina; it’s like our Keppel Reflections/Sentosa Quayside but surrounded by tall condos. A very nice but old mall called Ibn battuta is nearby.

There is of course the Mall of Emirates with that indoor SkiDubai but it’s no big deal. I dined infront of the ski slope a few times, wondering why tourists must ski on that artificial slope. Fly 7.5 hrs to ski on this? Might as well fly 7hr to Japan to ski.

Dubai has many skyscrapers. When you’re tired of shopping at the mega malls (almost selling the same high street brands easily found at Ion Orchard except plus some local Arabian oud perfumeries, keffiyah/burkas boutiques, Persian/Turkish confectioneries), just take the express elevators to the top of one of the towers to have afternoon tea or cocktail (age limit). Reservations may be required sometimes.

IMO, 12 yr olds are too mature for Kidzania, Legoland and WB. Or maybe not…I personally won’t visit these theme parks in Dubai with my dc. IMG looks very boring to me.

As for food, please don’t waste your stomach space on Chinese or Jap cuisines familiar to you in Asia. Do curate your F&Bs well. I recommend 1 Persian (Irani), 1 Iraqi, 1 Lebanese, 1 Turkish, 1 Syrian, 1 Moroccan, 1 Egyptian for your trip. Some are quite similar but foodies can tell there’re some slight differences in method of cooking/spices used, depending which European power colonised/protected them before. Also, the restaurant settings/decor will differ

Dubai is about high living. Do dress sharp as always, in case you want to dine at some expensive restaurants. This is one place you can wear your luxury handbag, timepiece and jewellery to tourist sites without having to worry someone would rob you. I was always dressed to the nines in Dubai!

Will thick wool socks and insoles be enough to withstand the cold ground or definitely must invest in a pair of snow boots w anti-slip grips? Not skiing just sightseeing.

Real camel rides, à la the caravan experience, are usually more expensive. While you may get to spend a lot more time (~45mins) on the camel in the dessert, the caravan may not necessarily be everyone's cup of tea.

For Atlantis Aquaventure Water Park, I would recommend that you https://www.klook.com/en-SG/activity/2244-atlantis-aquaventure-water-park-dubai/?aid=1018 instead of buying them directly from https://www.atlantisthepalm.com/Reservation/day-experience/book-now. Buying directly from their website will cost you AED 289 (~SGD108) for a full day pass. Klook, as an authorised reseller / travel agency, is offering the same full day pass at SGD89

floppy

Reply to [Fun Poll] Holidays 2018 - Where You'll be Going on Wed, 21 Nov 2018 14:39:21 GMT

Joyymum,

So wonderful to hear of yr after PSLE holiday plan with ur DS.
