I share your frustration. Did he get his corrections done with his teacher yet? Perhaps try to look through what was different from his answers?

Since his grades have been dropping I want to send him to a good tuition center for science. Any suggestions?

I believe the question is asking for the differences in the dispersal method but the answer is about the differences in the seed.

Didn’t the school teacher go thru the paper with them & make them do corrections?

Anyway, this is what I think: his answer is only half correct so didn’t get any marks. Need to link the physical characteristics back to how it relates to the dispersal method.

Eg. A has a wing-like structure to allow it to be carried by the wind, and be dispersed over long distances. B has hooks to allow it to cling onto animals’ fur and be carried away from the parent plant.

Tuition centre may be able to teach the child the correct way of answering. But if u prefer to save money, I highly recommend this shortcut book PSLE Science Sketchnotes, which my son has been using. It basically summarizes every PSLE topic into 1 full colour page. Everything that the kid needs to know is on that page, just memorize and throw back to the teacher during exam.

It's basic structure / process in science research. Nothing hard.

Keep it simple.
unfortunately, it's not as easy as it sounds, everyone use CER, but most people in my DS's class still do badly. like reasoning, most people are not able to get the right reason.

They are the only center with cognitive thinking skills and the 3 days holiday program i’ve signed up convince me that it works! . AS i see that questions are getting so hard these days, so having a class with cognitive thinking skills improvements will will benefit long term, that is what i hoped.

Hi, some of the open ended course offers good follow-ups, the one my DD attended will send worksheets and marked with feedback, so they can be familiarized with the technique which i find good. From my research, not every course offers that.

I find the course sufficient but i still sign up for the tuition program as it's very good materials and my DD enjoys the experiments.

I have just signed-up for one of the open-ended questions and crossing my fingers.
I agree…Ace Scorers is quite good. Their teachers explain fully enough the questions and how the answers come about. However, sometimes I feel there are sessions with a high teacher-student ratio. I wonder if the teachers can still focus on each student’s needs even when they’re in a group. But otherwise, it’s all good.

I remember how my DS struggled with these types of questions…what more if it’s not multiple choice? He’s set to take his PSLE next year but somehow, I’m afraid he’s not yet ready, especially when answering open-ended questions. What to do???
Consider a tutor or go thru assessment book answers together to analyse how to craft the answers.
