I am sure the folks in MOE will design the exam such that roughly only top 1 to 3 percent of students will get 4 points. Though we can make an educated guess based on today's PSLE scores of A*, A and B. Roughly top 1% of PSLE scorer has 4A*, top 2 to 5% has 3A* and 1A etc.<br /><br />In the new scoring system, today's top 1% should score the minimum 4 pts with 4 x AL1. Also my guess is that today's A grade is split into AL2, AL3 and AL4. You don’t have to be excellent at all four subjects, just good enough to get 1. No longer can you use a strong subject to pull up a weaker subject for a high t-score. So what if you score 99 in English, Math and Chinese but get 74 for Science. You’re out of the running for the top schools despite being in the top 5% of the population for 3 of your 4 subjects. I guess that’s how redistribution of top students will take place.</p>
