I ask them to just try one. you know after yesterday's home made tangyuan, I asking nyself why need to buy arh when I only like plain tangyuan, for the preservative arh 😉 really just need to add water and do hand exercise for less than 5mins while the water is boiling..and it is chewy enough for my standard.


I really miss those delicious :drool: ah-boling fr Dover. I can bake nice cakes but not sure skillful enuf to do my own.

Hee, hee... Eversince the ah-boling (tang-yuan) stall closed its stalls at Dover mkt & Chinatown 😢 , I hvnt ate any tang-yuan since as I've developed taste for soft, springy & chewy ah-boling so find those fr supermkt abit hard to swallow. 😉
i love the tang yuan from mr bean. it has a soft and chewy outer skin and nice sesame and peanut inside.

So, I don't like those other tang-yuan then why force kids to eat when their generation go for their type of food? They only eat them when grandma cook for them, owise they abstain. One tradition I won't miss & don't feel need to retain with our family's conscious effort to reduce sugar intake for good health. I'll choose my battle lah, this tang-yuan no battle, just walk away fr it. Que Sera Sera, leave them be.

We were too rushed yesterday because some of us had to go out, and one daughter will be out tonight. We usually don’t make it on the "correct" night!

Over the CNY period, we notice quite a few lion dance troupes moving around. Interesting thing is these we are seeing more and more non-Chinese in these troupes. I even encountered a troupe that is made up of all non-Chinese fellas.

Many of them come from across the border. Exchange rate makes it very attractive.

They’ll hv non-Chinese or those not on CNY harvesting. Only Sporeans/Msian Chinese not at work during CNY.


Even in Spore, the suppliers hv non-Chinese workers moving goods at Pasir Panjang Wholesale centre, tho suppliers themselves only drop by to supervise or their staff-in-charge.

The staff at restaurants worked till eve of CNY & said they’re open for 2nd day of CNY. Most are PRC Chinese or M’sians who will take 2-days & return to work on 3rd day of CNY. I was surprised to see all cafes, restaurants & even SingPost all in operation yday when picking out a b’day cake for FIL. In fact, we thot might run out of cakes fr Bengawan Solo, 4-Leaves or Starbucks or bakers all gone for CNY. Eventually choose light Chocolate cake fr Chateraise (not so ger lark).

Guess in Spore, we’re really privileged with good/efficient social & community planning such that we’ll never be left without food or good food for the matter.
