Freelance work depends fair amount on your ability to generate work or "business development" activities. You may through this angle inform the interviewer that you wish to concentrate your efforts more on teaching through reducing the "business development" needs. This is what institutions and large companies provide. I hope this helps!

It's not so regular, often rather underpaid, no benefits, with gaps in between, and often seems like more work than working in an office job! That's my experience with freelancing, which I've been doing for a few years, with a break in a \"real\" job for a while in between. I have other commitments, so the freelancing is not my main occupation; if it were, I would feel rather insecure.

sharonkhoo

Reply to Need some interview tips on Mon, 29 Jan 2018 00:24:40 GMT

It’s good to be truthful, but up to a point. You can say that the workload had increased and you are find that it is no longer to your liking (but don’t mention that fact that you feel unfairly remunerated or treated etc). You can say that you have done it long enough that you want a change, not that you are unhappy with the situation. You can say that you would prefer a more permanent position with benefits rather than working adjunct or freelance? If you emphasise more the "personal preference" and "time for a change" aspects, it won’t sound too negative.
