You guys may not be in the ministry I went previously.

During LKY times also have lah. Now also have lah. Yes, that particular Director that I spoke to has his own bias. Having said that, there are some encounters I have seen. Complaints that I have heard from the ground. So I don’t think it is one off encounter on my part.

That is besides the point, what I am trying to point out that there are folks who think these way, which we never run away. Agreed, I do see them as a good representation of the civil service as well. But …

Just like some who sees PES C as sissy…jump into the wagon too soon to pass judgement. That is sad.

Thank goodness I am out of that few Ministry…

If sign up during the offer period, one doesn’t need to go for any medical underwriting (meaning it covers all pre-existing conditions).

I got my son to sign up for $200K during his time and told him to ask his kakis, esp those with any pre-existing condition, to sign up as well (maybe the first $100K was confirmed covered but anything extra would need medical underwriting. During his time, he had to pay FULL premium for the cover. It was an ‘opt in’ arrangement in the past. Can’t really remember the details.)

Then came maybe NS50 or some event that SAF ‘gifts’ all NS men $150K free cover and if anyone wants more, they top up themselves and pay the additional premiums.

Personally, I thought more of it as a good deal / nice gesture (esp for those with any pre-existing condition and have problems buying insurance cover or can only buy with exclusions / premium loading / etc) instead of looking at it as ‘SAF values my son’s life only at $150K’.

Private was shooting off as if everything alleged was true.

(2) Are you also going on the premise \"if it is true\" there is a tekan culture \"prevalent\" in the Army? The accounts so far only talk about the posters' own specific units. Somewhere along the line, somebody decided to extrapolate it here to say it is prevalent in the whole Army.

(3) In any case, tekan and heat injury are two separate issues: the connexion between the two is yet to be established. You (and private) jumped to the conclusion that it was a cause of death. You guys were not talking about eradicating any vestige of tekan. You were literally crying blue bloody murder before causation has even been established.

Or were you just agitating and playing to the gallery? So much so that you are accusing people who tell you to take a step back and look at it logically of being unconcerned. Why the emotionally loaded words if your intention is not to agitate?

pirate

Reply to Death of SAF Full-time National Serviceman on Wed, 09 May 2018 01:02:23 GMT

our sons are conscripted to serve NS and ‘returned’ to us safe and sound.

this damn tekan nonsense should be looked into.
