We used to be on Drupal for many years. Switched to WordPress some years ago but we disliked it. We will be switching back to Drupal sometime this year, hopefully.


Drupal is not as well supported as WordPress but we liked it.

If you're just tasked to administrate drupal, a simple course from udemy is fine. But if you need to go beyond, into the technical realm of drupal, please don't. Unless you have a passion for IT, it is going to be a nightmare experience. It takes years of training and practise to hone such skills, and lots of dedication to maintain that level of proficiency.
I agree! I am only going to do the basic stuff - uploading the materials. Technical stuff is beyond me, and we will either wait till we have someone inhouse, or engage an external professional.

For SF, you make claims of the course tt costs u $130 & after SF subsidies, they'll refund u the balance, which in yr course I believe is the advertised $15. It's just the way to entice ppl to enrol if they noticed paying $15 out of pocket is worthwhile to pick up skill.

I would prefer to remain a user too! And I'm not aiming to learn \"amazing\" features. I just hope to learn enough to be able to upload new content and make minor adjustments. Oh well, at least I can be a good example to my girls and other young people: \"middle-aged non-IT-savvy SAHM tries to learn Drupal!\"

Never heard of it till yesterday too! Unless you are handling a website, I guess it's not something you need to know. Many people just learn bits and pieces in a monkey-see-monkey-do fashion when they take over an established website, but I prefer to get some background and overview as well. Especially as we hope to get someone else to help out eventually and I will have to be the one supervising. The problem with small non-profits is that they don't have much choice about getting people to do the work, so they end up with people like me!

have you got a chance to play with drupal yet? drupal, joomla are all CMS designed with not-so-tech savvy users in mind.

actually it's quite easy and would hardly need to attend a course to learn.
I am at level zero, and I'm not a tech person. Since I am to replace a person who's leaving soon, I think I'd prefer a course. The person I'm taking over from is not a tech person too, so the info loss in transmission will be terrible! (Our tech people are not good teachers.)
