Really? How old is this writer? Old enuf to exp WWII? He will not gripe with so much modernity since WWII! Too young & immature to know how much Spore achieved & arrived. Just look at M’sia after WWII, the ppl hv no public housing tho they’ve plenty of land resources & other natural resources; no clean toilet as Sporean contributed; racial harmony & vibrant Int’l visitors for conferences, collaborative research, etc

3. How many Asian govt keep up with providing for world class healthcare for citizens & keep public health edn alive with both treatment & preventive activities to engage in sports? I really enjoy sports fest, running & biking parks for my kids. I’m so proud small dot Spore hv such pleasant environment for family outings, hubby’s photography & kids nature exploration.

4. Infrastructure - we hv a world class airport, easy internet connectivity, efficient port & logistic to facilitate bz & supplies fr worldwide. Mahathir boast being Super Corridor to Msian’s doorsteps, but during his govt, it was just as corrupt such tt they never got advance into any easy connectivity for their nation, up till now it’s under their corrupt political carpet. Our govt delivered!

5. Investing into the future - our hopes for more economic activities brot fr Europe & elsewhere had been dashed "temporarily" by new Msian govt, not our govt’s doing. Hopefully, s’time down the road it’ll be revived. I don’t want to be shortsighted to think it’s only for visiting M’sia for food & shopping. It’ll be more vibrant when we get visitors of sorts fr Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and further.

6. My French neigbours wanted to get a job in case their husbands’ EP expires coz they love Spore & feels Safety for their families are priority. I know of my scientist colleague, a 2nd generation Taiwanese, whose father contributed in a major way to developing part of Spore mfg sector in the early days. His kids are Spore born & contributing in medicine in govt hospitals. There’s no place else better run than Spore if u were to assess so many aspects of a safe livable, advance & smart nation.

A true govt cannot be all things to all me, given so little natural resources. But truth I wld ‘gripe’ is that LKY made edn equal to all & we’ve wised up intellectually but not able to empathize & read our own situation objectively.

But, I’m sure there are enuf Sporeans patriotic enuf to protect fr false suggestions & ppl who wld constantly post negative vibes to stoke & flare irrational emotions.

Btw, looking at all the posts you’ve been putting up, you’ve always been stoking negativity against yr own country (or are u really Sporean blood?) and it’s so obvious.

My grandfather was here long before Singapore's independence, when it was still a British colony. We survived World War 2 and the Japanese invasion of Singapore. We thought that things would get better for us after independence. However, this is not the case when the PAP is treating the country like their business empire instead of a country.

I am not a hardcore PAP hater. If they were doing things right and people were happy, I would have no reason to hate them. I don't hate them for the sake of finding someone to hate or to vent my frustrations on. In the past 14 years, I feel that they have lost the mandate and will to lead us properly. I have observed silently from a distance. I did not want to be too quick to jump to conclusions or to judge them prematurely. However, enough time has passed and they have shown that they are not up to the mark.

Granted, it is not easy to manage Singapore. Despite it being a small country that is much smaller than Malaysia and Indonesia, it has still survived. But we are not just looking at survival here. We don't just want to survive. We want to thrive. Would you be happy with your life if all the money you earned was just enough to buy you food and water? There is a lot more to life than surviving. Unfortunately, the PAP has created an environment whereby Singaporeans are struggling to make ends meet.

I don't want to rub salt into PAP's wound. Unfortunately, if they keep suffering setback after setback, maybe they are just not cut out for the job. They reward themselves with high salaries despite not performing well. This is unacceptable. You do not receive the prize before winning the competition. You cannot put the bull cart in front of the horse. I’m curious why some cannot look beyond the act of P election. The region is threatening terrorism & I guess I shld hv painted everything clearly in discussion. Why I assume ppl can think beyond? Me bad. Haiz! I’m glad Spore is putting strategy to put a figurehead. I shudder to think a weak govt kept suppressing multi-racial representation causes even more discent. That’s easy to push the weak to respond to radicalism. Just wondering, in today’s context, wld we prefer the hard rule or the soft but invisible hand when occasion calls for it. Btw, I’m not saying that’s what the govt is doing. Just wondering what will appease those who seemed to gripe our current leaders, or wld they prefer the hard rule all over again & be led with no voice? Or will changes ever appease anyone?

So, if Tharman takes over the baton, and if the train issues continues, continue to welcome foreign talents to prop our population, or steer the country to avoid attacks with similar unpopular but critical decision, wld ppl be happy?
