I think it came out in the news a few days ago that more than 90% are Singaporean customers at KSL mooncake fair and that we cannot exceed $100 value if bringing back the mooncakes ( I forgot the exact numbers).
Haha I bought in separate days. 😂
Glad I discovered this brand this year.

Actually JB mooncakes and their boxes are quite nice too. Just that need to be stuck in causeway jam...I remember I bought good Chen ones before Becos of their cute tote bags! 😂

Agree! Specially went to JB to buy 3 sets of Good Chen moon cakes for the bags. Their durian snow skin is good and cheap.

But the steps are similar up to the stage of preparing the skin to wrap around the fillings.


Ingredients for Snow Skin :

* 150g 糕粉 gao/kou fen (fried glutinous rice flour)
* 180g Icing sugar
* 40g Extra virgin olive oil
* 200ml water (adjust if you are using juices fr yr freshly squeezed blue pea or pandan or other natural coloring. Don't add more than 200ml liquid, owise u'll get a soggy snow skin
* 1 tsp powder coloring (choice of match, cocoa, pandan, etc)
If u prefer a lighter shade, adjust accordingly. I put in half tsp after my 2nd try)

Fillings
480g Paste of yr choice lotus, pumpkin, yam, etc)
40g Nuts of your choice (pumpkin, sesame, macadamia, hazelnuts, etc)

Directions
1. Fry the 糕粉 first. Sift & mix the fried flour with the icing sugar
2. Pour gradually in the extra virgin oil & water portion at a time (not altogether)
3. Wear glove to mix dough. Knead well.
4. Divide the dough into equal portions of if u're doing diff color Snow skin.
5. Use the rolling pin to flatten one dough at a time & put in abt 25g of the filling & wrap into dough. (I normally prepare & roll the fillings before even frying my 糕粉, so that it speeds up my prep & my snowskin Mooncake can go into fridge fresh
6. Using your palm to hold your flattened dough, fingers of your other hand, slowly pull the edge of skin towards Centre & move in circular direction till yr dough meets at the Centre & lightly press in. I prefer to coat my master hand with oil to handle the wrapping process to better handle.
7. Put wrapped dough into mould dusted with 糕粉.
8. Keep in fridge in air-tight box. Consume within 2-3 days

Hope you have fun & remember you can involve your kids in the wrapping stage. 🕺 Your can make some animal figurines too! :hi5:

Less sugar, no fats, natural coloring with panda, matcha, blue pea & beetroot. Flavour of fillings with osantermas, akuzi red bean & yuzu paste. Bought duck eggs & very tempted to do a few sinful ones.


1st round wipe out by family, 2nd round home tutor as DC hv little time to go tuition centre, 3rd round PIL. Going to make ano round tmr as PIL love them & for nephews & nieces. Will try chocolate paired with cocoa, hv not attempted the lychee, need a lot more time to do friend yam. Any other ideas? I can't do chempadek tho coz no skills to do. I'm only doing home-based lah. Not professional at all.

Supposed to be a Laughing Buddha biscuit but it looked scary. DH asked me to throw it away but I ate it. After eating it, I felt disrespectful to the Buddha when I have to eat the head.

Snowskin durian mooncakes roughly $10 each, I rather buy the real durian at $10 each to eat as quantity is more. 😆
