Ya! It’s traumatic to be shouted at in public. Slapping causes both physical & emotional distress. You can educate with physical or verbal violence. Create only bitterness, resentment & rebellion. That’s not the kind of result any mum or dad wants as outcome, nor society as a whole.

I remembered one 50yo Indian lady yelled at my ex-helper, if you can’t control the child, please don’t bring her out!! Back then, my girl was only 2yo+ and she was crying because it was nearly her nap time. Luckily, last time no social media. 😓

I can’t speak for the woman next to him, but if that was my child, I would definitely have stopped it even if it means getting slapped myself. It would be wrong to do that to a bigger child, what more a tiny helpless one like her. From the report, it seems that the biological parents are not together, so no idea which one is the birth parent.


Parenting is not an easy or clear cut journey, but for me, this is not one of those ambiguous moments. I am glad that it has been escalated to MCYS attention.
