Not sure if first try fail, whether can drop to A level CLB.]

For G3 track, default in sec 1 is normal CL. However, my son has G3 classmates whose parents wrote in to request straightaway drop to CLB because they don’t speak Chinese at home, didn’t want to spend money on CL tuition any more.

I checked with my son’s school teacher, he said they will not force us drop to CLB even if failing. Son was invited to CL remedial in Sec 2 term 2, so far seeing improvement. He is the final batch to take O level CL in mid-year 2026. If cannot clear the D7, school will ask him take CLB with year-end batch. I think your child may be asked to make decision after sec 3 EOY.

zac's mum

Reply to Foundation Chinese to CL B? on Thu, 09 May 2024 06:37:53 GMT

If took 6 subjects not included the CLB Chinese.

L1R5 meet the JC entry.
Can the kid still go to JC and need to have H1 Chinese during JC?

My boy is S1 this year.
Isn’t CLB only consider when he in S3?
Thanks.

However, if CLB is one of those 6 subjects, they are technically limited to the Poly pathway (L1R4). So what the school has offered to do (out of the kindness of their heart) is the POA teachers will stay back after school to give these kids POA lessons (ie outside of the standard timetable), and they will take O level POA as their extra subject for the purposes of JC entry (L1R5).

Whether or not the subject POA itself is suited for these kids (I know mine is definitely not detailed & meticulous enough), is another factor.

zac's mum

Reply to Foundation Chinese to CL B? on Wed, 28 Nov 2018 05:06:31 GMT

marsilingmom:
Hi all, I would like to know if students who take Foundation Chinese are automatically enrolled in CL B in sec 1, or if they take standard Chinese and are then offered CL B if they cannot cope?
