May i know how old is your child?

I find the series are really good. Sounds are clear and easy to learn. To me, it is better than Leapfrog.
DS is 3 years 10 months now. He is attending full day playgroup from beginning of this year and he also attended phonics enrichment - ICR (since March’10).
Although preschool + enrichment help in phonics vowels and words blending, but it can be much achieved with parent’s regular revision and engaging into reading. He is able to read those sentences in preschooler series book 3 and 4. Just few days ago, he finished reading aloud to me the Peter and Jane book 2 and 3.

After seeing him able to read, I feel a great sense of achievement and so does he. :lol:

Me too, I have a collection of leapfrog DVDs. Some were purchased directly from US and some through the Amazon. These DVDs are entertaining and fun to watch but \"preschooler series\" is the one that makes us understand the 2 letters vowels + blending concepts and most important, DS started reading after the sentences

Yes, the \"Preschooler World Series\" is simply great and fantastic. I happened to buy the bundle series while browsing the books at popular bookstore one day. Thereafter, my DS shows great improvement in blending and started to read simple sentences after watching the VCDs. I also have learned alot from it :oops: I simply love this series :celebrate:

You may want to use Ladybird series-Peter and Jane. I do find it great to help the kids to remember sight words. I use it simultaneously with cards.

Not flashing, but take a card out of the words and get him read after me. Usually 2-4 words per week or two.

I use EPH-high frequency words (Popular) and Peter and Jane. The result is good. My 4.5yo isn't interested in P&J but i see great improvement. I just need to bribe him on every page he reads.

I have friends who teach their kids with story books. You may want to try it. Get simple or books with repeated words, get him/her to read. Before that you read to the child daily till he/she familiarise, then encourage him/her to read.

I don't use this method. I personally find that P&J is the easiest.

I use starfall for the ABC and the GingerbreadMan cuz DS loves them.

I am now reinforcing alphabets so print wksheets and art and craft ideas from some of the websites you mentioned in your other posts eg notimeforflashcards and dtlk to teach my DS. Also incorporate the mystery bag game as suggested by buds. Ds loves that part v v much (read that buds!) He tries to cheat sometimes by peeping when taking out item from the drawstring bag :lol: :lol:

Maybe once I've learnt the trick to load photos from camera to PC, then I might put up some of the stuff DS and I did together lah ... πŸ˜„
