I feel for parents who are FTW (Full-time working) and also SHM (Stay-home-mums).

I've both experienced FTW and being a SHM during different circumstances in life.
Being passionate about Education and getting back onto the track of teaching, I've learnt that although it isn't easy to juggle WFH (working-from-home) or being either a FTW or SHM, communication and setting boundaries and routines are essential to keep ourselves and family sane and happy.

As an Edupreneur, there are many times when I am brainstorming and curating curriculums outside 'working' hours, my children would simply walk over and ask me to look at their work, toys, games or just wanting to have conversations. It is difficult to break away from the 'Edupreneur' moments to being a mum. However, I told my children (ages 7 and that they need to make sure i make eye-contact with them before they speak their minds so they would know I am focusing on them else they may get hurt, wondering why i ignore them. Another mutual understanding is that, apart from setting routines, they can write me a note if I'm in a meeting when they need my attention.

During HBL and WFH, we may need to share the same spaces. I think occasional noises that overlap is inevitable so adults may need to chill a little. If our meetings are very important and we need full silence and concentration, perhaps children need to be arrange in their rooms for that 1-hour or more. Work communication is now very accessible on mobiles. It depends on the culture and practices of individuals and organisations to have a common understanding on the speed of response according to priorities and importance.

After all, routines and boundaries are not meant to put the children away but to draw them near even when our working hours are blurred during WFH. More importantly, we need to ensure that the love languages among the family members are received and given. I believe WFH also meant more joy in seeing that motivation that keeps us going everyday.
