This means that the demand of affiliated girls going to Sec is high considering a few affiliated girls who missed the 212 cutoff in 2018. Thus, the Express cut off point was furthered lowered to 205. No one will know if 205 for affiliated will remain or increase.

If MyPillow’s Friend were to ask for transfer after end of Sec 1 or Sec 2, will the school consider previous primary affiliated girls first for special transfer in cases ?

For 2017 and 2018, none posted in. The non-affiliated cut off for 2016 was 250. Those parents and girls struck lottery if their non-affiliated girls scored between 237 and 249 and got in based on their first choice (gamble the school to see if Lady Luck shines on them). They are indeed lucky. For those scoring 250 and above, they did not expect cutoff score to decrease by 13 points too. However, for those receiving PSLE results in 2020, they may not be so lucky as many will choose to go in with T-score above 237, thus, can expect an increase in cutoff points again but no one will know how much it will rise as it depends on demand and supply.

There are non-affiliated girls who went to PLMGS even though they qualify for Cedar Girls Sec but they did not choose Cedar Girls O levels as there is no affiliated JC. This is one reason why Cedar cutoff drop to 249. The second reason is the long walking distance from mrt/bus-stop to school puts off some parents from choosing Cedar.

I recall reading up about it when my daughter was in sec school, but she didn't join in the end, for various reasons. I believe quite a few schools in Singapore take part. You can read up on it:

https://www.odysseyofthemind.com/

Of course, it's in addition to regular schoolwork, not what the Summit model seems to be. In Singapore, no matter what, schools will always prioritise exams. However, parents can decide not to go all out for exam grades and try to balance \"real world\" activities with doing enough studying to do reasonably well in exams (depends on what \"reasonably well\" means to each person). And not every test and exam really counts, anyway. Doing well in the exams that count doesn't mean going all out in studying throughout the year; smart studying throughout and intensive effort for shorter periods can be good enough.[/quote]
Would like to ask if anyone is familiar with Mindchamps Thinking Cap programme? It claims to focus on getting the mindsets (creative/learning/champion), and the child will learn how to learn... Appreciate if there's any sharing on this!

jakoh
