<![CDATA[Will you continue with this tutor?]]>My friend’s son has a tutor who’s quite loud,her son finds her fierce.The tutor ever told my friend that she had explained a sum to her son for a few times but he still didn’t get it.She asked my friend to try to revisie with him.Her son is quite quiet during the tuition as he finds her fierce and asked her mum whether he can quit.Her mum is in dilemma as she can’t find any good tutor for her as he’s weak in Maths.

My friend has given up looking for a home tutor for her son.She'll be sending him to a small group tuition.

I agree partially regarding the difficulty in finding such a tutor. There are many out there and I am one of those.... hehe 😉

Anyway, as a parent, you need to know what you are looking for in a tutor and convey this to the tutor. Always take a bit of time to chat with them about your child and this would give a good impression of the tutor.

It is sad to see tutors who do not have the patience. I think that it is imperative for a tutor to be patient as this will help during lessons.


Also, as a tutor, you need to have alot of initiatives. For example, if a method has been shown twice and the child could not understand it, then what the tutor should do would be to find out why the child is still having difficulties. That way, the tutor could then find a different method to use.

I agree it is quite absurd for the tutor to say that but I also agree that the situation the tutor has said that was because the child could be really very slow. I am sure the tutor could not have said that in a demanding way? I mean this is Singapore, people I meet are reasonable and cordial.

KRTC Tiong Bahru 68780444, Mr Wong is good in P4,5,6 maths. He is very loud in class, will relentlessly pull children attention back.

there are so many math tutors out there. sure can get another one who’s good.

tutor explained a few times and the kid is still not getting it, shows that the tutor and student are not suited for each other.

It is better to change until you can find him a suitable tutor then to drag on until your son is in P6 when you find it more difficult to change.


That is what I’m facing now, my boy is in P6 now and I’m still trying to help him to get a good English tutor. My time is running out as I’m left with about 6 mths for PSLE.

if i were the mum, i would have changed the tutor the minute the boy told me about her… i think she is not patient enough. a tutor is to help the boy and revised with him what he has learnt and help him build up his weakness. with this, don’;t think he will learn very well.
