I took my daughter to the PD today for persistent tummy pain. And since she is about to turn 4 in a month, we also did a developmental check. She is again way above 97% for height (110cm) and within range for weight. Dr only said to monitor her when she is 8-9 to make sure she doesn’t develop prematurely. And of course she said, “You are so blessed!” Yes i am, but I really just want my kids to be normal and healthy.

If it’s any consolation, at least she is 97%, not >100%.

When they do up those percentile charts, they took the min and max heights in a sample population of same age kids. Somebody had to be the shortest, and tallest, in that population.

So she is aaaalmost the tallest in SG for her age. She is not abnormal. Abnormal would be beyond the 100%.

Take it from a mom whose kid is historically the shortest in class...the photographer always makes the tallest ones stand in the back row, or just next to the teacher! Front row is always the shorter kids, with the 2 shortest at the front left & front right.

Most schools should have the communication app. I haven’t tried my son’s primary school one, but for kindy, still can text them. Only thing, it could be the admin replying you instead of the teacher la.

At the rate this is going, next year also no need to meet teachers already.

Yes possible for an odd one I feel.. just monitor ba try not to worry too much.

I diluted and cut down amount. Probably got to try mixing low fat and formula wean until no need formula. Honestly this is new to me, i gave my elder boy formula until quite and then switch to pediasure. I was also fed dumex (or something red/white) until i was quite big so I though kids needed formula till they decided they hated milk or something. Haha my mother’s theory.

Yup I’ll monitor for now. It is really not an ideal time to take them to the hospital now for checks, and I probably gotta give her 4th annua check a miss also.

Meanwhile I wrote a little note to her teacher just to see what’s the class average height like. She says there is a boy taller than her. But we wouldn’t know if he’s a jan or dec baby. So well. My girl is a july baby, smack in the middle.

Plenty of protests when it comes to cutting out her milk feed. She was begging, tearing, wondering why.

Now just hope this is just her rate of growth. Although dad and I are not big boned, she might just be the odd ball. Still interested to hear if any other parent has a child like that.

I m not sure about hormone level on kampong chicken. I tried Sakura and its kind before. I find chicken too big. Always there is certain part uncooked somehow. So we only buy kampong chicken. Last time fm wet mkt but later on after I discovered the ntuc one so much more cheaper and we stick to it most of the time.

Yes I heard especially boys should not eat too much chicken, will lead to growth of man boobs. Some mums I know specially buy Sakura chicken instead, for this reason.

I won't rule that out. She shared chicken essence with me after my 2nd child birth. We had big bones soups. Plus my mom fed her milk every sometimes less than 2 hours interval when still baby (to toddler) as according to mom it is just liquid, after pee baby will feel hungry. Maybe coincidence in our case also as we have very tall gals even at my generation level.

Same concerns. I mean it really isn’t just the chicken. All sorts of meats. And even if organic, does it mean it is really clean and clear? Milk, soy, all these may also contain certain hormones. I recently switched to coconut aminos, mainly because of my own allergies. Thinking of switching my daughter onto it too if that would help

My menses came when i was 12. I was in corrective braces for scoliosis and doctors were hoping my menses would mean faster puberty and bones would stabilise faster. None of that helped, it still got worse and surgery at 13. So hopefully my daughter’s menses won’t come by too early.

I’ve been noticing young girls these days looking taller and taller. Either they aren’t locals, or kids this generation are on a different kind of milk. Tempted to go up to them to ask them their toddler-years height.
