It’s becos of the Covid safe management measures put in place since 2020.

The boys used to be able to play anywhere during recess. Even when the playground was closed for renovation, they could still go to the Ecogarden or foyer to run around, play catching or kick scrunched up paper for football. Even the table tennis tables in foyer were provided for those who bring their own bats.

Now the boys are only allowed to EAT EAT EAT during recess. Stay with their own fixed group until recess is over then they all walk back to classroom together. He’s getting super fat from the lack of running around.

PE 3-4 times a week helps a little bit, but like u said, the play is limited (again to the fixed group). PAL would depend on what their class is rotated to do. If it happens to be indoor activity like Batik painting this term then no play.

You may need to find external group activities for him if he craves that interaction. It is sad that the classmates bond less easily during this pandemic.
thank you zacs mum as always!
i am hoping for end march to bring the good news that the kids can play together and be boys 😄

What play time are you expecting in Primary school? The only time is recess when kids can play catch or games provided they finish eating quickly.
I am expecting the kids to have some play time to play amongst each other and be boys. Don't think That is an unreasonable ask

My boy is in P1 this year, and based on what he tells me, there is hardly any playing time

PE is mostly running and exercises, not sure about PLA
what is the times that the kids can play amongst each other?
recess seems to be spent only in eating
is it because the field is undergoing some sort of renovation?
or is it because of covid?

Hi all SG50 parents!

The family is overseas now and looking to return SG around 2023. But understand that I will still require to ballot a school for my SG50 boy. Am planning to go for Maha Bodhi but looking at the stats, it seems to have low chance as we are in phase 2C and 1-2km from school. Should I even try for Maha Bodhi or not waste my chance at all?

Alternatively is to go for Tanjong Katong pri, phase 2C 1-2km from school. Most likely should be able to get in without any ballot. My boy will be returning to SG from an international school overseas. so thinking TKPS may be a better/easier fit for them to adapt (from where he comes from). Anyone from TKPS can share your experience with the school or culture of the school?

Thanks lots for the help! 🙂
it will be a good fit for him
TKPS has a very international/expat feel as a school

Hi, I'm new here... Saw a few post on the bullying n culture of the school(SSS), Im actually planning to put my son to this school as its near to our place.. But after seeing these posts... I'm getting worried... Can any parents whose child are in the school advise if these are true..? How is the Psle results this year 2019? Anybody knows? Isit true that the school place more emphasis on the brighter kids n leave the rest at lurch? Haha...
Really hope someone is able to advise on this.. Thank you so much in advance.
I know some parents with some boys there and some educators
there is no bullying culture
there was some bullying incident and that was quickly resolved
happens in all schools to varying degrees, as there are bad apples occasionally
someone posts of a situation in KSP and this tiagong becomes the culture of the school?? it is a good school which does not deserve this moniker
May I know what is the criteria for observer to be promoted?
Currently I am attending meetings but there isnt any request for any volunteer work etc.
Would like to know what does the observer really do? Just attend meeting and be observed?
Can I contact the chairman etc to ask for some \"duties\" to do?

If normal times, there would be more activities where you can volunteer your time. Better check with CM or Chairman how and roughly when you can become EM.

Thanks for the quick response.
I dont quite dare to check with the Chairman on when to become EM as there was a lady whom i spoke to told me that they actually dislike parents who join grassroot for P1 purpose.
May i know what is CM?
if they dislike such parents, then they should dislike 50% of the people who join
