RE: All About Ortho-K
Hi,
tried my child on ortho-k for 5 months, and recent eye test was said to have 25 degree "regress". Prior to this, eye test was 6/6( perfect).
Optom said no increase in myopia degree as no increase in eyes axle length. Anyone has this kind of situation during eye check up before? -

RE: Lower concentration of Atropine eye drops can slow myopia
hquek:
Hi hquek,My kid is undergoing the myopia treatment at Eagle Eye (can google for their address). basically I pay a fixed amount for regular checkups (see doctor only once in a while, optometrist most of the times), eye drops and eye prescription (specs not included). I have to drop 1 drop of atropine into his eyes each night. Kid is now using progressive lens plus Transitions (it's a must to have to protect eyes).
Understand that atropine basically disables the eye's muscle to do near focus and this helps to slow down myopia. So now he looks a bit like old man when reading near things. He is not supposed to go out into strong sun (not without cap) becos of glare and sunlight has more a adverse effect (cataracts in future perhaps). (BTW, when i used to go SNEC for checkup, they will put atropine drops to dilate the eyes before doctor will see me).
I understand there still may be side effects in time to come, but decided to take the gamble when his myopia worsened. Centre assures me that they have seen a lot of success cases where myopia was halted or growth retarded, and that atropine has been studied for some time.
BTW, this myopia control program is only for young kids (prob primary school) becos it's when their growth rate is highest (and therefore myopia progression is fastest). After 13y/o, I think cannot help anymore.
SNEC has the same program, but I fear the waiting time (not sure if it's the same as those going for other checks). Thus my decision to sign up with that centre. Interested persons can check with their eye doctors. But it will be good to find out more before committing....eye IS serious stuff.
In your own experience with 1% & 0.01%, which one offers better in slowing down yr children myopia progression -
RE: Lower concentration of Atropine eye drops can slow myopia
I dun think SNEC meant available off the shelves. Commercially available means it can be prescribed by eye doctors in 6 months’ time. Currently, the 0.01% diluted drops are only available to kids on the clinical trials I think.
Thanks for checking. So I guess I will wait until that diluted eye drop is available to eye doctors. Yah, I also dun wish to wait so long at SNEC so hoping places like Eagle Eye will bring in the diluted drops soon.
Hi Cherrygal,
did you get started on 0.01% atropine ?
Pls advise yr experience if so.
Thanks -
RE: All About Kids' Eye-sight
[quote="dilemma"]Hi
My gal just went to HPB last month and she has to be on glasses. Her reading is 250 per eye. You will be given a reading by the optometrist in HPB and you just need to bring the reading to any optical shop, no need to have eye tested again.
We went to Optical 88 and made a pair of glasses for $120. Later, when we shop around, we realise Spectacle Hut selling cheaper and nicer children’s frames. You may want to go have a look.
I also bought a Eye Relax machine for her, hopefully can reduce her power…it’s quite expensive, around $624 if you are a Popular Member…
Hi dilemma,
Is the eye relax machine helpful for your daughter? -
RE: All About Kids' Eye-sight

Hi, hquekpenmighty:
recently saw an ad from wechat saying there's a glaucoma eyedrop called atropine which can reverse short sightedness in children. don't know whether it really works. anyone to comment?
Doesn't quite reverse but it helps slow down. My 2 boys have been on it and since starting, their eyesight has either stayed stable or not regressed as much - but I am not sure what will happen once they stop, if the regression will kick in very fast.
Besides atropine, u try Eye Relax by energie?
Is the atropine 0.01% more effective or 1% for both of ur children?
