• RE: Vocal / Singing Course for Kids

      rinakurniadi:
      Hi there!

My daughter loves singing, so I thought of putting her in a vocal / singing course. So far, I found one at Gramercy Music School @ NTU Alumni Club One-North and one at Suntec city (forgot the name of the school).

Not knowing the reputation nor the teacher, I'd appreciate comments and advice from other parents on this topic. Anybody has experience or heard of good vocal training class / teacher?

      Thanks in advance!

      Rina
Hi! I'm not sure if you're still looking for singing teachers.

Here's a list of schools that teach. I'm not sure of the reputation or quality of teachers. But I was searching for a teacher for my daughter as well. In the end, a friend is teaching her.
Hi Guppy..thanks for the advice. If 2010 P1 is in the PM session, and the G1 classes are in PM, I guess I have no choice but to let my gal continue her lessons with CC until she is G2. I did not know that the school training is so intensive (twice a week, throughout the year)

Yes, I am surprised that training is twice a week. But I guess, the girls will have better marks. Which CC is your dd in?

She is with TPY West CC. Which class is yr dd in? My elder dd is in P1 rose. Next week, the P1 will be having their Oral and Writing exam...I have yet to revise with her. 😢
She's in P1 Hibiscus. Yes, I can't imagine that the exams are so soon. It just seemed liked it was only yesterday when she had her first day in school. They are having lots of little tests nowadays as well. Only one or 2 days notice or no notice at all. Hopefully, they aren't included in the SA2 marks.

    • RE: I Can Read - Discussion

      sensugan:
Can somebody advise about the I can Read at Jurong East.I am planning to enrol my son next year who is going P1.Which teacher is better there?Any advise pls.

I enrolled my dd there when she was K1. She enjoyed it but I pulled her out after a semester/term as I thot that the class was too large and attention was not there as there appeared to be students with varying degrees of capability, so the teacher had to spend time with each student. I'm not sure if it helped her as she was there for only a short while. However, my friend's nephew went to a branch (I don't know which one, but its in the central area) and benefited from it. He's a slow reader.

In the end, my niece helped my dd with her reading for 2 months and from there, her reading skills improved tremendously.

      Hi! bebe,

I think you should let your girl take her Gr1 exam in yr 2010 with her cc teacher first. Let her join her school ballet enrichment after her Gr1 exam but at the meantime join CCA in the school. It will be too late for her school ballet teacher to enrol her for Gr1 in yr 2010. She can continue Gr2 with a new class in the school after that. You may inform the ballet teacher that she is joining for Gr2.
      Hi

My dd is in the current situation. She's in P1 now and had taken the primary RAD exam early this year. She'll be taking Grade 1 next year. Last year, I spoke to Sandra Ho about enrolling my dd for G1 classes this year but due to the double session, the G1 classes (usu for P2) are conducted in the afternoon which would clash with my dd's school hrs. If you want to contact Sandra, just pm me (it may take some time for her to respond, though). My dd may join Sandra's ballet class next yr but will take the G1 exams at her current ballet school. This yr's G1 ballet class is on Tue & Fri at 1 pm to 2pm i.e. straight after school. The child has to attend classes twice a week the whole year through. Ballet is also not considered part of the CCA (from what I remember). Cheers

She's happy going to school now though the first half year was abit of a strain on her.

Hi guppy, may I know why it is a strain? becos lots of sch work?

Sori for late reply. I rarely sign in. There was no extra work to be done at home. DD is a year-end child and needs her afternoon nap. So, was very tired by late afternoon. Also, she had abit of a problem keeping track of what she needed to do based on the list the teacher wrote on the board.

She's fine now. She did very well for the mid year Common Test so, I guess that means she's not lagging behind.
